He said he’d leave everything on the pitch. That’s exactly the type of player that we need! Not just the whole “dream come true” stuff. The dream can’t come true if the team doesn’t perform with each player showing that they’ve earned the right to earn the shirt.

Ericksen I have no concerns about! He will be a massive positive influence in the dressing room. His human journey far outweighs cabinet full of trophies.

LVG is just a ridiculous washed up bitter old twat.

We were seriously mugged off when that spoofer turned up at our club.

Where the **** is @UIR nowadays anyway?

This is a big part of our transfer culture problem, all too often we keep players in the U23's to see if they shape up but when they don't, we dither over loans to lesser leagues when, in truth, we should be giving fringe players 12 months to show their worth before shipping them out. £12 million can't buy you a new ball these days - we need to be evaluating the youngsters, be more dynamic in assessing their worth before shipping them out for better money - City seem to be shipping out fringe players for £25m - we are so behind the curve.

That's probably true, although my immediate reaction was ah well that's paid for Malacia.

Forget the money (Liverpool absolutely rob lower teams for ****e failed youth), we need the old SAF way. Once he decided they were never going to reach our level but could make a living in the game he let them go for peanuts and allowed them a career.
This opened up spaces for other youngsters or new purchases in the club.

This might go some way to explain the delay in the de Jong transfer. The piece is from Marca via the BBC web page -

Marca say they have seen De Jong's Barcelona contract and it confirms the Dutchman agreed to a major restructuring of his contract within an overall extension that was designed to help the Catalan giants through the pandemic.

Essentially, Marca says De Jong had his salary reduced to €3m in 2020-21 and €6m last season. Starting from next season, he is due to earn €18m for the next three years - and €19m in the final year.

Evidently, if he was to leave for United now, De Jong would want some kind of compensation for the money he should have earned by now but hasn't.

So the delay seems to be down to a dispute between de Jong and Barca with us just waiting on the sidelines.

If the Marca figures are to be believed then Barca owe de Jong €73m over the next three years. There is no way they can afford to pay him what has been promised and if we are 'only' offering to pay €59 for him then Barca will have signed up for a €14m loss. Unfortunately I see this transfer dying a death but only on the basis that Barca won't pay what they owe if he leaves in which case he will stay. I can't say I blame him but it would be a shame for Eth to miss out on one of his primary targets through no fault of the club. Of course, none of that would matter to the sporting press, we would still have been snubbed by the player.

    What a mess!
The player has all the incentives to stay as his wages at Barca will shoot up. Barca want to sell of course as they can get rid of a very expensive player and get a fee. Wanting the player to stay means paying huge wages hence the threat of lower wages from their president.

I fear that if Utd really wants this player they’ll need to pay a huge amount both to Barca and the player. Otherwise the deal is dead.

Fkin waste of the whole summer!!

How long have we been talking about this? Yet it’s going to be Friday preseason fly out and we have Ericksen and Malacia on the books to show for all the the day and night spent working on “deals”. It is just amazing!!

Ten Hag might as well just say fk it! We are going at it alone using the youth and better coaching of the flops from last season. I will be fine with that at this point. Enough with chasing shadows.

Barca want to sell de Jong so that they can buy Lewandowski. Bayern sniff trouble and are insisting on the full €45m up front, no payments or add-ons. To pay that, Barca have only one player who would sell for that sort of money - de Jong. If we pay €65m to Barca and Barca pay de Jong €20m in deferred wages they will have enough to pay Bayern Munich. The advantage is with us at the moment.

Well yeah fellas, not rocket science is it?

Barca are known to need the money, they fancy Lewandowski and Silva, so they need to sell de Jong.

Balls in their court, advantage United. Can take as long as it takes.

Personally, am cool with it as what will be will be, always have been. It appears Ten Hag also cool with it.

And at least Cytrax is happy with the idea of us using yoot in the meantime so everyone a winner.

I’m not cool with Ten Hag wanting just one guy. Move on would be my call and execute plan B. Barca are a disgusting club and I don’t think we should be playing stupid games with them.
