The problem is he is likely to be even more unfit than last season now and has no intention of going anywhere. Otherwise he could have moved elsewhere last January. Really not sure what he is intending to do when his contract runs out in a year.
****ing hell, he has a year left to wind down at various restaurants. Surely, we can sack him for unprofessionalism? Whoever wrote that contract needs sacking too!
I've often wondered who it is who draws up the contracts and how they justify/arrive at some of the salaries paid - there just doesn't appear to be any logic. Apart from Danny Rose, apparently on £60K a week for the next year, we also have Ashley Fletcher with four years left on his contract, although I'm not sure about his salary, and Pussetto on £30K a week for the next two years - there's three there that are just ridiculous. Then there is what looks like a huge disparity in weekly salaries paid to others - if you believe the various websites: Daniel Bachmann £3269 Jeremy Ngakia on £2500 Pontus Dahlberg on £2115 Mattie Pollock and Yaser Asprilla both on £1923 Kwadwo Baah on £962 Dennis on £13K Samir on £11K Kalu on £14K Pedro on £12.5K Kayembe on £14.8K Penaranda on £18K Sierralta on £9K DQ and TDB both on £8K At least we've managed to get the highest paid one off the books - Sissoko on £80K.
This bit doesn't seem to make sense - it suggests that no salaries are being reduced but there are provisions in the contracts to reduce them after relegation. “We have no need to reduce any player salaries because all player contracts have provisions in them that deal with whatever league we are playing in,”
Yes, what they are saying is they don't have to sell to save money as the contracts have a reduction within them nowadays. So we sell at the right price or keep them.
Sarr and Dennis due back with the squad next week. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/20265396.watford-confirm-sarr-dennis-squad/
I may be in the minority with this, but I'm glad Kiko isn't leaving. If Sarr and Dennis are going, I hope it's soon and not part of the mad, last day rush, which serves only to disrupt anything planned over the previous couple of months. I'd really like the club to make it clear that, if no acceptable bids are received by the end of July, the pair of them are staying put - at least until the next window.
More TV games ! “Watford’s Sky Bet Championship home matches against Burnley and Middlesbrough in August have been selected for live broadcast by Sky Sports. The visit of Burnley to Vicarage Road will now take place on Friday August 12 at 8pm, while Middlesbrough's trip to Hertfordshire on Tuesday August 30 will now kick off at 8pm”
If Sarr stays the club will hope that he will show the form last time in the Championship to boost his value again. If that happened and we were in with a decent shout of an immediate return to the EPL, would the club take the chance of selling him and losing out on the riches, or take the money for him? A difficult decision for Gino.
