I'm with Nin on this. We need a striker who has a reasonable relationship with both the ball and the back of the net. Perhaps not a 20+ per season man but I don't think 15 or so is too much to ask as I'm not sure we have that many goals in the rest of the team. That being the case, for all of his other qualities, Roberts is not that man.
I meant on football skills not . As I said before, can't fault him on effort and workrate but, apart from age, otherwise is he an upgrade on Collins?
Change for changes sake isn't a good thing. Also, judging players in a format that doesn't suit them is harsh. It's been said before, we've 'ruined' a number of strikers down the years. Done ok before and after being with us, but have looked rubbish in our side. There may still be a few bits worth saving in our existing squad. Hopefully if there are any they will have been identified during the Scottish trip. Would still be nice to sign a bit of stardust though.
Romaine Sawyers anyone? Free agent, aged 30, lots of Championship and some Prem experience. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...kCopy&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sharebar
Whyte and Sang left off club profile page but Whyte at training today. Morrison and Ratcliffe shown on the page despite lack of new contracts.
Its a concern I've alluded to. The squad is starting to look bloated and unbalanced. Many of the players are very 'samey'.
Wrong end of the pitch? ............... https://www.footballinsider247.com/...ardiff-city-make-moves-to-sign-ben-goodliffe/
I think it's worth remembering that in the upcoming season, five substitutions will be allowed in EFL games. Thus, we now have what is effectively a 16 a side game. Options on the bench are now equally as important as the starting eleven. This might go some way to explaining what looks like an unbalanced recruitment campaign. As for players being "samey", I think we've all commented on the idea that players can perform completely differently with different clubs. Of course, this is just a personal view on reported and actual activity in the market and it wouldn't be the first time that I've been miles off. However, just for the moment, I'm happy to trust SM with the limited resources he has and to improve the way we play. Bloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobirds
Thanks for the update on the 5 subs cling. Was unaware of that. Puts pressure on the 'smaller' clubs with smaller squads. What's the thinking behind that? I get that players can vary how they play, but they all seem to have a similar starting point. Also, are many of these signings much better than youngsters we already have? I can see half the signings being an improvement, but the rest look like padding. Will cut Morison some slack, but not in as positive a place as I was a few weeks back. Have you spelled Bloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobirds right this time?
