Understood mara....But he has bags of ability, and depending on his attitude, I reckon he could be a plus.
I'm not even on the fence with Borini. I am so far beyond the fence its untrue. I'm not even in the garden. I'm hiding in the cellar. I think he'd be a terrible signing. And signing him "because we have no cover for Stewart and we might not get Clarke" when there are TWO MONTHS of the transfer window left is a ridiculous argument. Availability isn't an attribute. There are lots of "available" players. I'd like to think we spend a fair amount of time trying to make unavailable ones more available.
Agree on all counts. Borini was great for us when he was on loan, but was horrific when he signed permanently. He was a disgrace in the relegation season.
every where he goes he barely plays. its absolutely nuts that we are still the club he has played the most games for by quite some margin. and he was barely here 5 mins he's been surviving off his reputation as having high potential forever.
Boring was a credit to himself when he was on loan. He then very publicly said he didn't want to sign for us, came only when he was told he wasn't wanted at Liverpool and was short of options. He was very limited in his second time here, with only BSA getting much out of him. Not for me. His agent is doing his job, but I'd rather he looked somewhere else for his client's last pay deal
Don’t like the idea of players being ‘offered’ to us I’d rather we trust the recruitment team to approach who we actually want
With all the data analysis that the recruitment team do these days, they will have come up with a significant size list of potential targets that could be suitable for the team. Do you think Borini's name would be anywhere near that list? I don't, so why entertain the idea just because he fancies it and he played for us years ago? Speakman and Neil will have no sentimentality in this case so I can't see it happening. however, I might be wrong and analysis may show he'd be a good fit,.
spot on. I’m sick of those players that they say “he’s going to make a good player” over and over. And still say it when they’re 29!! Had potential to be a top player but, once he had his contract, turned to ****.
Fabio Borini would be a terrible signing for us, but a great one for him for obvious reasons, and being 31 he's bound to look at opportunities towards the end of his career so I can't blame him (his agent) for trying. He's (probably well) past his best and he'd be far too slow (and old) for the S.A.F.C. style, and his experience wouldn't help 'cos he wouldn't be able to contribute where it matters and lead by example, so it's definitely a 'no' from me
The Borini link is all wrong for me. We set the profile of the players we want for the team, not working out how we fit in a player who’s being peddled by his agent. If he fit the profile and was what we needed then he should already have been on the radar. Same for that Ronaldo fella in Manchester looking for a new club, he can sling his hook too ;-)
Oh yeah 100% rather have Clarke.. but who we going to replace him if he’s injured? No use having a quality starting Xl but no depth on the bench
Probably not, but then again their current number 10s had really awful seasons. It was only really De Gea & Ronaldo that could claim to have had a good season. Eriksen was quality for Brentford, obvious question marks remain about his overall fitness but I think he’s one of the best midfielders in the world. I really rate him.
Not entirely sure BSA trusted him, often playing N'Doye ahead of him. Seem to remember a last min equaliser when Borini celebrated in BSA's face
