Pity about that, there was a lot of interest shown in it and quite a bit passion from both sides.

The mackems calling us sad, yet if it was those that beat us 5-1 on halloween, they would be doing exactly the same!

 

It just makes them look like very sad little people. There are a few good lads over there (we all know who they are) but unfortunately their board is infested with too many soft lads like raw and cestriamackem who love dishing it out, but can't take it back. Their only answer is to either hurl mindless abuse and insults at people, write a series of "farewell" posts, or complain to the mods. Yet they will happily take the piss out of us at any opportunity. We all know that as soon as we hit a bad patch the usual suspects will writing threads about us and trying to take the piss. LIke I said, they can dish it out but can't take it back, pathetic really.

I have realised that although this forum is better for our own board than 606, over this past year some of the threads have been works of pure genius, the banter was better on 606 because posters had to be more thoughtfull and a bit more clever with their replies to rival fans.

There is no solution to this because people like the two I have mentioned do not want any piss-taking at their expense, their egos cannot handle it, and those lads on their board that you can have a laugh with get fed up with all the petty name calling that every thread degenerates into. It 's the price we pay for self moderation.

 

At the end of the day this is what local rivalries are all about. the derbies would be just another game if we just let them pass us by like an away game to fulham or something. its the banter before and after that make it. the commentators aren't kidding when they say we're playing for NE bragging rights and as we recently mauled our local rivals we're likely to brag a lot more than usual. i'm sure if it was the other way round we'd be getting it inthe neck as well, and i for one have braod shoulders and would take it on the chin as i know thats what we're playing for on derby day. The right to rub it in the neighbours faces.

 

Looks like somebody abused their power.

 

They are of course right. We shouldn't dwell on the past.

This is just about the funniest attempt at reasoning I can think of. 5-1 means so much more to us all because everybody here actually saw it with their own eyes, were alive to experience every glorious moment of watching your team get ruined on the pitch. You're 44, that means it is very possible that your Grandad wasn't even at the 9-1 game.

9-1 is a good bit of history for your club, but you weren't there to enjoy it, you simply have two numbers on a page to grin over for a little while whenever the pain of remembering 5 goals flying past Mignolet gets too much to bear.

 

Do grow up RAW, you know full well you'd be doing the same as us lot if the tables were turned.

 

We had a good bit of banter last night if I'm honest.

It all became light hearted & quite a bit of fun in the end & some arsehole has gone & pulled it.

Spot on Billy, was a good two way chat. All light hearted even if it didn't seem so at times. A bit of tongue in cheek stuff that wasn't interpreted the way it was supposed to be.

 

The 5 - 1 fails in comparison to the mackems finishing 1 point ahead of us last season, fair enough, they haven't reached Europe ( Milan in particular ) but they're still "NE top dogs" despite us being in the 4 at the moment.

What a great day though!

 

AB, too true marra, it was a bit nasty in places but then apologies were made from both sides & in the end people were just chatting away about this & that like folk would do in a mixed pub.

I've asked the mods on our board but as yet no-one has claimed responsibility for pulling it although I have my suspisions.

Spot on, the best thing about these two boards here is the ability to have some quality back and forth without it crumbling into irrelevant bickering or being deleted by mods.
