I really hope we're not after Roberts from Leeds, he's looked pony infront of goal whenever he's had his chances. Definitely not a 20 goal a season striker, I'd have Wells over him all day. Argh dear
I can't remember seeing him play live, but his goalscoring record seems poor from the stats, even at L1 / championship level. Sigh. Let's hope if we sign him he is the Zamora type that gets space for others to score.
Hrs one that gets into good positions and then blasts it miles over ! He picked up a season ending injury in leeds' new managers 1st game and has had surgery so no guarantee he'll even be fit.
Sounds promising, or it could be that the others are just turd ! Hopefully Paal can play every game and get us promoted . We have to find some ****ers to put the ball in the net, reports of Roberts are a tad worrying. I really thought we'd be buying at least 1 striker and not be relying just on loans.
It’s 2nd July FFS. The window closes on 1st September. Most contracts run to 30 June. For the last couple of seasons the club has done decent business under the radar. Are you this patient with the kids you coach?
Roberts isn't a number 9 that's for sure. He's actually quite a good player and would be very comfortable in the championship. Hes more of a number 10. A loan, in my opinion would definitely add strength in depth to the squad.
He's one of those 'bitsa' players that can play in different roles, rather have a proven goalscorer...
Are we really surprised? Don't imagine any one actually thought that he'd be fit for start of the season.....
Whatever happened to the days of our club actually buying players and backing the manager? Sure, loan here or there but we’ve just employed a new manager, yet it would seem that we are going to expect miracles from him with bugger all signings. Regardless of how good a manager is, without squad improvements, are we wasting our time? While l’m still having a rant…… we never seem to here from the club what our expectations for the new season are. No mention of, ‘we’re looking to invest because we want a PL return, etc’. C’om management, give your long suffering fans something to hang on to.
He's not a goalscorer, even though he started out as a 9, has lots of ability but often chooses the wrong option and gets caught offside far too often, he scored a couple of decent goals in a game at Hull, early on, we got excited but it didn't last. Having said that the majority of his games have been off the bench and never got a decent run of games. Ask the majority of Leeds fans and they'll be glad to see the back of him but I think given the right move to a Championship club who'll give him a few starts and there could be a player in there, he'll also be trying to impress to get back into the Wales WC squad,so could be a good time to get him.
