    Wyoming was just as bad:

They made Liz Cheney look amazing, despite her being pretty crap.
She's going to lose miserably for daring to stand up to Trump, too.

What is the "case" that you believe is to be made ??
For the Tories to be elected as govt at the next general election ??

"However given that millions of people vote Tory, statistically I would think some of them are on here.
They may have a problem with BJ but surely some of them should be able to put forward some sort of argument for voting Tory -
even if that did involve ditching BJ."

If a general election was called today, the Tories IMHO cannot run
on their record this term, only that the alternative could be far worse

    Would that suffice ??
Sometimes it does, sometimes it does not.

Dennis Healey once stated that the electorate choose to vote
for the incumbent when times are hard ( "better the devil you know" ) .

Which I recall he posited as the reason for 1992.
Of course the counter-examples ate the general elections of the 70s.

People who support the Tories presumably do so because they believe in something. I am simply wondering why none of them say what that is on here.

Any 'Tory bashing' on here is almost 100% fact-based, Conspiracy theory-free. Yes, it's vitriolic, sarcastic, ironic, but actually very considered. And there are certainly political positions on this thread that are certainly from a range of centre-left / left opinions.
Unfortunately, as this thread didn't exist pre-2010, there has never been an opportunity to 'attack' an alternative Government.

As we are not the BBC there is no obligation for some pseudo balance. Posters simply put their views/comments as they see fit and as long as our rule of personal insults is adhered to everything is hunky dory.
We have a natural balance within the posters on here as the views and rules have self selected who wants to stay. I can think of some posters who no longer post on here because their views and modus operandi were out of step with the majority.

I reckon if you get rid of the ****s and the idiots then you get rid of most of the extreme right wing too.

I think it depends on what the hardship is.
If it's something like a war abroad and it's temporary, then I can see votes for stability and cohesion.
If the government is seen to be responsible for the hardship or contributed to it? Out you go.

That's what did for King George I, as the coffins were coming back from Iraq just in time for Americans to go to the polls

I see the Tory bots are out in force saying, oh yes, Starmer's been issued with a fine by Durham Police which neither Labour nor the leftist media are talking about

Just a reminder, that "leftist media" aren't talking about Gavin Williamson getting a knighthood so he didn't mention the Great Leader getting his nob gobbled on a Foreign Office couch, only Private Eye...

Six new claims of inappropriate behaviour by former Conservative deputy chief whip Chris Pincher have emerged, days after he was suspended from the party for allegedly groping two men.
The allegations stretch back more than a decade:

Man's a wrong 'un and they knew about it for years. This'll get worse.

It's endemic throughout that grubby Party isn't it?

However, for balance, it's good to know that there are still some decent people in Parliament - none better than Chris Bryant. Maybe a future PM, should the UK ever decide to be a legal, functioning modern Democracy ?
