I just hope KLD is going to run for PM as he's probably one of the few people that knows what he's doing, keeps his business close to his chest, doesn't spout garbage about how good he is and how **** everyone else is, and proves with the results of his actions that we don't need to worry as we are in safe hands. That is going to be huge problem for some but basically because it uncharted territory and they are waiting on something to go wrong, however this time we are really going to be OK. I never thought I'd be relaxed supporting sunderland, but not only am I relaxed but I'm very excited
I’ve just been told the same from someone else as well. It could also be rubbish but few different people saying it now.
This man could, quite literally, do anything he fancied in any part of the world. Yet he sits in grubby little stadiums watching L1 football and listening to supporters griping on about the pitch, the tannoy, the staff, etc. You could forgive him for wanting to buy a super yacht and sail it around F1 venues or down to Marseille for the games, not forgetting the Bahamas when it's a bit nippy. But he's committed himself to sorting out a mess of a club in the far NE, not just throwing a bit of cash down and signing a bunch of temporary players like Roy Keane did. We're now attracting hungry young players with ambition and quality ... ... I get why people find it all hard to grasp, personally I'm sitting back and loving it all.
I wasn’t sold on Clarke until the playoffs. Over those 3 games he looked like he could just beat any defender at will. Going to be so important to have a player like that in the championship especially when we struggle to break sides down
Once he played his way into form he stood out in League one, especially in the playoffs. Not only that, but at 21, he's already stood out at Championship level being young player of the season at Leeds which convinced Spurs to buy him. As for the stats, I'm not as bothered about that. Clarke passed the eye test, He has excellent close control and the way he can dribble past a player is a bit of a throw back to an old school winger, which I love. He's fast and versatile. Easily worth £3.5m in my opinion, given that we already know he can perform at this level and that he already knows the club.
As others have said you really can't compare those two transfers...remember those up the road paid £25m for a 30 year old striker last season. £3.5m for Clarke would be an absolute bargain.
Teams will also push up more against us in the Championship which will suit his pace. In League 1 teams would sit deep against us and play for draws so players like Clarke & Roberts should be even better in the Championship
Any strikers from the lower leagues or even non league, or from Irish leagues etc we reckon could maybe make the step up and be understudy to Stewart?
I would contend we require 3 bona fida strikers. I am assuming Stewart is one, I would be happy with Broadhead ( but as he seems to be injury prone?) we need another proven striker of Championship standard....
I’d be surprised if he ends up here, hope I’m wrong but as we have embo and Pritchard I don’t think we’ll be after a number 10. Could be proved wrong as Embo played left of the 3 in the PO final
