Little idea I had to see to see how things have changed over the years. I was born in the 80s, let's keep it respectful. Be a good idea to see how people's memories of simple this differ from one generation to the next.

It's simple,

I remember when a friend request was knocking on your mates door not knowing if they're in or not.

I remember when it was time to come in when the street lights came one

I remember when the internet became a thing and if you phoned someone's house while they were on the internet, it sounded like a fax machine screaming at you.

I remember when going on holiday youd send a postcard to tell loved ones how its going, but 9 times out of 10 youd be back home before theyd even recieved it .

when people actually went out to work, got paid weekly in their hands, knew exactly how much to pay out and how much 'pocket money' they had to themselves and debt was something we lived without, if you could not afford it then you saved up...many a time doing a bit overtime and weekend work.

a 'holiday' was anywhere away from work for a week or two and if you managed to get to the seaside it was an adventure.

heading to the pub and getting 4 pints and 10 number 6 out of a quid.

i could go one but will leave some for others.

I remember when a taxi to the town cost less than a weeks wage, getting a stamp for a nightclub early doors and then dancing (badly) till 2am, getting a pizza and getting home safe and sound.

I remember being cheeky to the wrong person, getting a slap, taking it on the chin and getting on with my life and learning from it.

I remember having the stereo play/record buttons pressed down aswell as the pause button and listening to the top 40 on a Sunday.
When a good song came on youd have to leap off the sofa to take the pause button off in perfect time so you wouldnt miss any of the song

I remember the day the IT lady was putting a computer on my desk and I genuinely couldn’t see the point and was certain I’d never use it…[our current IT team may still think I don’t!]

I remember when high street shops were actually shops- not just countless pizza and junk food outlets, charity shops, nail parlours or vape sellers.

I remember party lines on the telephone. Basically outgoing lines were shared and if your party was using the phone you could listen in the conversation
I remember when mobile (site) phones were the size of car batteries, I remember pagers, having to stop and find a phone when your pager went off
I remember rag and bone men giving away balloons
Wedding hoy outs when the bride chucked a load of loose change out of the car window for the local kids to fight over

I remember when you could go to the town on a Saturday and not be able to move for people out shopping, hussle and bussle,the sound of shoes on the concrete, the smell of the hops, a battling for a table in mcdobalds,Game next door.the only Greggs was the one where tesco and primark is now.

I remeber in the early 70's, when the UK Radio 1 top 40 countown was broadcast live on a Tuesday dinner time, between 12 noon and 1pm.

At school, everyone used to gather around whoever had a small transister radio...
