At least he showed some humility. It's a start!! I can see both sides to the Adel enigma and I posted the article to try to get as much feed back as possible. I think a lot of us are of the same mind.....we want him to come good but we haven't got the time in this league to wait for it to happen. Also, some feel he simply isn't good enough whilst others, like me, think there are other reasons for his demise. Whichever it is, I feel his time here is sadly over. I also feel that some views are just too extreme and I just can't understand the depth of bad feeling towards him from some!
surely a great player does not turn to **** overnight.. there must be a bigger picture to all this somewhere. bringing him on as a supersub is not a bad idea.. dont play him for a few games and then someone else can be the useless player what short memories we all have. 1 goal might be all he needs
Nice summary Col. I for one have calmed down a bit overnight. Frankly watching the first half in the pub with mates who support other teams yesterday was embarrassing, and the performance of our 'star' player was the worst of it. I was furious, and vented on various threads. Now my feeling is more of concern. There is something seriously wrong with the lad physically and mentally. His overall attitude does not inspire sympathy, and I fear that unless something radical happens, that's it.
I say stick with him - if he can get his confidence back up and net 6 or 7 this season then he could make all the difference. It's easy to have a go when we have played the Chelsea's and Spurs's of the league - let him loose on the lesser teams and he will score. I seem to remember him hitting the post several times this season - could have been alot different for the lad - lets get behind him.
I'm QPR fan not a Taarabt one, while he's a match winner the childishness is tolerated. I put it to you Col, that this is another legacy of our ridiculous Pre-season, and Warnock wanted to sell and buy players who will run and fight for a team battling relegation. #luxuryplayer
"I put it to you Col" Wow North, are you a barrister? Are we holding a trial now, and if so what is the charge?
Yeh, he did hit the aluminium 3 times I think, and played well the first few games, so I don't quite see that a bad pre-season can be the only reason for bad form now. He seems to have been getting worse and worse lately, and yesterday he was terrible. Hopefully a lot of hard training and some time on the bench will get him going again.
I wish The points a goodun though, I don't think Warnock wanted him this season, and that might go some way to explaining the change in his attitude, he knew he wouldn't be able to get away with it in a struggling side in the Prem.
Hes also very lazy and you can have all the ability in the world, but if you dont train hard, get fit,stronger,healthier,etc..then its all a waste of time...confidence and performance will be effected. Can you change him into a fit, stronger, quicker player when hes just born to be lazy?..I very much dought it. At the moment, hes not proving to anyone that he is willing to work hard and change his ways. If you think about most players that decide to prove themselves, get fitter and stronger will spend 4 hours a day in the gym.Cant see Adel doing that!
DaveinMelbourne - think you're rght. drop him to bench and bring him on as impact sub. As much as my blood runs blue and white, I cannot see us getting anything other than an arse kicking next week so if we a 3 or 4 down with 20 mins remaining......just tell AT to prove to the big boys of citeh he has the skill. and application and attitude that he does deserve a place in the starting 11. I will say this that against cfc he was kicked all over the place and I am surprised he didn't come off injured
Im an Adel fan and desperately want to see him being creative, but its plain to see somethings not right with him,it must have been hard for him to lose the captaincy and as a confidence player that wont have helped, JB chewing his arse and being told he sulks all the time is eradicating his confidence, either that or he just cant step up to a higher level, i hope he comes good but would leave him on the bench against City as the ammount of posession he gives away would leave us exposed to citys midfield.
During the game yesterday I was saying we need to sell him in January, now I'm not so sure. Why? We all know if we sell him we have to hand 40% to Tottenham. Now it doesn't really matter because we've paid peanuts for him and he did pretty much win us promotion last season, which equates to 80 million per season that we are in the premiership. So he has made us a fortune. So do we really need to cash in on him? I was Adel biggest fan and defended him to the hilt last season whenever there was a post arguing about his commitment, because his commitment didn't matter last year and the fact was he was tearing a lot of teams to pieces. We all knew that we wouldn't be allowed a luxury player this season, yet Warnock has stuck with him and so far he's remained a luxury. It was evident yesterday in the first half that Adel was trying to run about and get in the way, but he just doesn't do it with any commitment, therefore he does nothing to contribute to the team when it's in a defensive mode. But the reason I would keep him now and not bother selling him is because I think the main problem with him now is confidence. Last season people got on his back because he just wouldn't pass the ball and would always try and score himself. Unfortunately he's gone the other way this year and just wont shoot for love nor money. I think the best thing is drop him for a few games and then drop him in when we're a couple of goals up and just tell him to 'turn it on', show us what you've got sort of thing. If he can score just one goal he really could come to life, but until he has scored I wouldn't bother selling him because we've got nothing to lose. But god the guy is infuriating.
How come Neil keeps picking him and playing a formation based around him then? He has other players he could start with, but he knows deep down that Adel is his one genuine match winner, that's why he is starting. He was totally abysmal yesyerday and rightly taken off,but as others have said it is a confidence thing, how best to get him doing what he does best again is a tricky one,but maybe playing him wide left in a 4-4-2 would help him.Put Barton in the middle and play 2 upfront.Hell it must be worth a go for a couple of games, moody, childish, arrogant but also mesmeric, entertaining and most of all a match winner!!
If Warnock didn't want him then it's hard to explain the number of starts he has made so far this season. I'm sure NW's thoughts are the same as the rest of us: a match winning talent being severely disabled through his own testiness and a massive confidence dip. Just think about how well he played alongside SWP against Newscastle when they first teamed up. He wasn't recognisable as the same player yesterday. It was plain for all too see yesterday how a period out of the starting X1 had improved Bothroy'ds attitude by a factor. NW will just need to do the same with Taarabt - he can't possibly start the next game after that horror show. For what it's worth I don't agree he would work well from the bench - whenever this has been tried before he has been inneffectual presumably because his ego is already dented. Perhaps a few weeks loan to a Championship club to get him started again? I'm not worried about the approaching transfer window as the offers are not likely to flood in anyway. He may well want to sign an extension if its on offer...
Keep the faith in Adel. He will come good. You cant go from a great player into a crap one overnight. Please dont forget what he done for us last season. He was immence and some of his goals and assists were out of this world. He is running low on confidence but that happens all the time. IMO Joey Barton and a few others are playing just as bad. Some of Joeys crossing yeserday was awful but he is obviously a stronger character and doesnt let his bad form affect him. Tarrabt bad form has affected him. Warnock needs to get his confidence going again as the guy has more talent then Joey Barton, Jamie Mackie etc put together.
Why are people saying he doesn't train properly? Does anyone actually know this for fact? He suffered earlier in the season because of Ramadan but I'd say he's as lean and strong as most. You don't take some of the fouls he's had to without having some strength about you.
