Yeah, definitely a stats nerd thing, to some degree. Applying numbers to sports is a strange hobby that's always been more popular in my country. It also works better in games which consist of a lot of 1 to 1 contests, like baseball and cricket, than in games which are essentially team sports, like football and the NFL. That said, the data for team sports is getting more predictive, and if you get a case like Richarlison's where all the numbers seem to be bad, and it matches the impression you have from watching the player play....

Anyway, as it's looking increasingly likely Richarlison's coming (edit: 100% probability, in fact), here's hoping I'm utterly wrong about him. The only other player I can think of I was adamantly opposed to was Sissoko, who IMO ends up in the so-so group. I still think his price was far too high, but that he ended up either barely justifying it or not falling short by much. The fact that he was the RB in Amsterdam says a lot in his favor.

Yes I'm afraid we have to blame the USA for a lot of things in the post world war world. Taking over the mantle of the previous empire seems to be a human habit. I like Sissoko was so-so let's hope Richarlison does not behave like Charles Son did or was it brother?:emoticon-0116-evilg

I looked to find who invented Statistics and it appears to be India, France, Germany, Britain, and China. Surely the USA took their use to another level? I suspect @The RDBD will furnish a stat. based answer and take it to another level. A 90% chance?

And any "evidence" Richarlison has dived in the past was created out of nothing by a combination of Italian satellites and Hugo Chavez reaching down from heaven.

Sounds about right. It's reliably reported that 73% of statistics are made up on the spot.

Sounds like we may have (finally) had a breakthrough for Spence, Lyall Thomas says deal could be done on weekend. £15m plus add-ons.

Gwaaarn, Levy! Look at you go, show Paratici how it’s really done round here <laugh>

edit: Keith Downie, not Lyall Thomas.

If the basic/highest transfer fee costs for Richarlson
are at least 10m more than what them lot are
paying for Gabriel Jesus, then Spurs have been had.

Jesus only had a year left on his contract didn’t he?

I’m not overly fussed about the fee, I trust the club to budget accordingly and I don't think the Richarlison deal will mean have any impact on any other incomings

Its the difference between getting a player who is a backup at a large club who have just signed 2 players in his position and getting one of the best players from a club lower in the league who basically just saved them from relegation.

I think Richarlison is the right profile for us, and if he fills gaps across the frontline, works hard, brings others into the game and chips in with a few goals then that’s what he’s here for. Ultimately sometimes in football you pay over the odds for the missing piece of the jigsaw.

It shouldn’t have an impact. The 150m cash injection basically allows us to buy before selling, and to pay more upfront to clubs like Everton who need more cash immediately. Obviously bits of every fee are still in instalments but the cash injection is basically a buffer to allow us to get on with buying the right players straight away and worry about selling later, without being held over a barrel.

The whole capitalist system and money itself is based on belief. The most recent example is Theresa May's non existent Magic Money Tree suddenly appearing during the Pandemic and then instantly disappearing when the train drivers put their head above the platform.

It's the difference between a player who is proven in the CL,
and could start PL games so each of Kane/Son could get
some serious starting XI rest, and a player who has no CL
record + is a drama queen in PL games.

I read somewhere that Everton won 3 league games without Richarlison since he joined in 2018.
They hadn't won any until Ancelotti took over.

Gards is pretty legit too. Said before on here he’s one of the few with genuine info.

He’s friends of friends of mine too so if he’s found to be a fraud I’ll get a Cheshunt boy to slap him, lol.

Wow great time to be a Spurs fan.
Exactly 1 year today we appointed Nuno. Now we have Conte at the helm, champions league footie and all being well 6 new signings possibly by the weekend start of July.

At the end of last season 6 new signings seemed to be the magic number, the absolute minimum required to really challenge next season.

It's very likely now we could have eight if Rodon and Bergwijn leave as expected. They will of course have to be replaced.

Bremer / Zabarnyi and a creative mid / wide forward and Paratici should get the biggest pat on his back from every Supporter, put his feet up , put down his 5 mobile phones and have a well deserved holiday.

Roll on 5 and a half weeks. Can't wait ........
