It's been suggested on one footballing blog site that City are considering bringing back one of our old players. I kid you not - with just a year left on his contract, West Brom want to get Ken Zahore off their books and he's keen to get from there himself even on loan. Would you?
No thanks. Good left foot if he can get the ball on it but at 6ft 3ins hasn't got s clue how to head the ball. Has lost his way completely. Looked exceptionally poor at Millwall. Ramsey...... If he gets his 4m euros pay off from Juve, why not?
Question for you, and I realise it seems a no win situation. On our experience of them both such as it is, would you prefer Collins or Zohore to play up front?
Do you want sh!t flavoured ice cream or ice cream flavoured sh!t? Zahore was a flash in the pan and we made on the deal. Leave well alone. Collins may be able to play in the system Morison is looking to implement, not as well as we'd like, but maybe. More likely than Zahore anyway.
I'm struggling to think of many or even any ex players I would want back - apart from Doyle and Drameh. Do loanees count? One who springs to mind, especially if we want an experienced cb. I don't know if he was injured or fell down the pecking order (and Albion may need to trim their wage bill after recent signings). How about Semi Ajayi? Only play 29 league games last season. Might cost a few bob but could be money well spent. An experienced head alongside the youngsters. Can anyone think of anyone else we would welcome back?
If we can get someone to play him in, I'll go with that. He needs someone just behind him and on the same wavelength otherwise he's not effective. Scott Twine did it whilst he was on loan at MK Dons and it worked like a dream for them - unfortunately, Burnley have just snapped him up.
Looking at our 2018/19 squad only 2 stand out. Danny Ward, now 30, great energy but low goal return. Victor Camarasa, 28, but not played for 2 years after an acl injury.
Just looked at that squad again. Rhys Healey. Now 27, 35 goals in 65 league games for Toulouse. Would cost a few bob but has done really well there and could fit in well with the style of football Morison wants. I have not been a big fan but his record in Francd speaks for itself. Would he return? Would we want him?
This will be the interesting bit. How does Morison set the team up? He favoured 3 CBs at times. We tend to struggle to control a midfield with only 2 in there. Will our new signings fare any better in a 2 or do we have to go with 3? 352, 4141 or 4231? Not sure 451 or 433 would do for us. Always hankered after 4231 which might suit Watters as might 352. Wonder if we'll get any pointers in pre-season or will it just be about getting minutes in the legs? With all the new arrivals I'm hoping he will show his hand early.
Will he come back to haunt us?............... https://www.footballinsider247.com/...alks-to-sign-cardiff-city-winger-josh-murphy/
Lazy journalism - does Tom Coleman not realise our wage constraints and we’re not a nursing home for journeymen https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/ambitious-free-agents-who-could-24348643
So, what business do we still need to do? Would Morison be comfortable playing the first half of the season with what he's got? Probably outs will be as numerous as ins from here on. A keeper needs to go, probably Phillips. Why sign the others if you're going to move them straight on? Collins to go? Do Watters and Harris have futures here? Other than those 4, 3 or 4 youngsters out on loan? We still have flexibility to fetch in loanees. If a CB would prefer an old head to a youngster. Creative midfield and strikers? Youngsters from the Premiership would be fine. Dont see them arriving for a month or so though.
Not sure where the goals are coming from at the moment and we need to be careful of repeating past mistakes. That is bringing in a striker and not having the correct style or players to feed him. This SM's first pre- season with the senior squad and the first time he's working with a majority that hasn't been brainwashed into hoof and don't chase! Could be that he feels he can play without a striker but that in itself can be limiting. Can't wait to see what he has in store for us. Bloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobirds
