About 20 of us had the pleasure of meeting sir jimmy in 2000 the man was a legend and some of the stuff he got up to in the 60s had us all laughing our heads of for a good hour.
For weeks I have been waiting for a celebrity to die so I could post a joke about it. Jim has fixed it for me. Sorry .
He did a talk at Hessle High round 65 time,us 4th years were invited. Some of the other schools in the area came along, but one schools headmaster objected not allowing their school to attend as he would be too corrupting. His talk was funny, did talk about sex etc but what i remember he was quite serious about taking precautions etc and the dangers of drugs. He arived in a flashy jag and our teachers acted as guards to make sure no one damaged it.He signed his autograph for everyone of us kids.
In the pantheon of the Yorkshire Gods, surely? He's surely joining Brian Clough, Don Revie, Henry Isaac Rowntree, Captain James Cook, William Wilberforce, Robin Hood and Guy Fawkes.
No he wasn't he was the only man that ever went into Parliament with good intentions. All the bloody rest are traitors, to the people that is.
