Probably not if he'd cost 10 mil, we don't need him that much. Someone who can play well in both the Clarke and Pritchard positions doesn't sound like a bad idea though, going to be a long season.
He's in last year of his contract so they might be wanting to cash in now but have a buy back clause like they have with Cirkin
He's a talented footballer and an upgrade on what we have, I don't think there's too much doubt about that. What we're building is bigger than the sum of it's parts though and I think every purchase has to be made with a plan in mind and a big picture. If it's a loan deal like Bournemouth had then it's a different story, though I can't imagine Norwich loaning him out to the same division without wanting a hefty fee.
I'm guessing this is on loan again (with Clarke signing an extension at Spurs) but it'll be interesting to see if it's permanent. It would be quite a big outlay from us as well and committing to this lad for the long term.
And that sums up some of our fans, watching a game and not seeing the bigger picture. O9 did all the dirty work in the playoffs which obviously went under some fans radar.
Still undecided about Morrison but trust the recruitment team. He can play a few positions which is always useful
Our last gamble in Pritchard paid off mind the gamble with Pritch was injuries and not being a complete bellend so hopefully he’s realised he doesn’t have many chances left and can continue on from last season if he does come in
I said at the time anyone that understands the game will realise that , the fact the so called one of the best players in the league was anonymous for both legs shows exactly how good o'nien actually is
I really hope the lad has turned his life around. Used to be a very troubled soul by all accounts. I worked with some of his close friends in custody who were in the right place and they were pretty dangerous people. They said he had a lot of baggage mental health wise but also bags of talent. If he has turned it around he deserves our respect. A bad start in life and mental illness shouldn’t exclude you from football if you are getting/ accepting the right support.
Not enough positives but loads of negatives about signing Morrison for me...Some are probably going on his last few games for Derby last season, me, I'd steer well clear.
I agree mate. To win a football match you have to win the ball, intercept the ball and get yourself and others into positions that hurt the opposition. I’d say 09 does all of them most games. I’m not sure what people moan about.
I don’t know much about Morrison. Sounds like he would be a gamble and it makes sense in that we’re at a transitional stage. Morrison probably wouldn’t be a player we’d go for if we were an established, top-end Championship side. While checking through Wikipedia, I found this about him which sounded intriguing: Style of play Lazio director Igli Tare said in October 2015 that Morrison "has undoubted quality and is world class, as well as being a little mad". FourFourTwo writer Alasdair Mackenzie predicted that with a more humble approach, Morrison could become a favourite of the Lazio fans, who had previously revered other eccentric players such as Paul Gascoigne and Paolo Di Canio. While Morrison's former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand named Morrison as the most talented young player that he had seen, his manager at West Ham, Sam Allardyce, said in 2017 that he considered Morrison to be "the biggest waste of talent" he had worked with. Writing for The Guardian in 2011, journalist Daniel Taylor described him as a player with "balance, speed, control, vision, flair, strong on either foot, an eye for a pass and a prolific scorer". https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ravel_Morrison
Look at his stats for Derby. He’s up there with the best in the Championship in most areas. He’s got a terrible record in terms of attitude and the amount of clubs he’s had, but Derby fans speak highly of him and believe he’s finally grown up and turned a corner. If we do go for him, I trust the club will have done their due diligence.
I'd absolutely have Jack Clarke back. Much like Roberts, he grew into it and was brilliant in that away leg at Sheff Wed. Inevitably he set the goal up, probably should have added the third at Wembley after a mazey run against tired legs too. Not sure how I feel on Morrison, obviously a talented lad but just seems an absolute tit. Trust the process I guess, seemed to have a decent season for Derby and managed to keep his head down for once. A resounding yes on Dan Ballard, he looked quality at Blackpool and exactly the type of signing you want to see us make. Overall the names linked so far are all positives really, if we can add the likes of Iversen and bring NB back too I'll definitely feel positive.
