Perhaps I'm being a bit thick but in this scenario how does this creative accounting benefit both clubs?
By allowing City to spend less on the transfer and also show a £5m sale. All counts towards the FFFP rules. So lets say the sale was actually £55m plus young Darko that means a total outlay of circa £57m if the kid has a value of £2m. What they are registering is a £5m sale plus a spend of £45m which means net spend £40m. Same day they also declare a sale for £45m to Arsenal so the accounts now show a £5m profit. Great business as you just brought in an England player. Makes the books look good and keeps EUFA away.
Yes I understand how it looks good for them, but I asked for both clubs, surely it would work the opposite for us as far as fffp is concerned.
Works good for both as Leeds get a player with an asset value of £5m for nothing and declare a sale of £45m. Same overall revenue but accounted for in different columns.
Good afternoon from a scorching Espana. I have to make you right on this, who the hell negotiates our deal. The only thing I would say is that Villa had a release clause of 100 million for Grealish probably not expecting anyone to meet it.
Can't see how that benefits us. The incoming player is not worth £5m. We are fiddling the figures to accommodate them and if get caught will end up being penalised, but I bet they get off scot free.
Don’t completely agree with that. Would Phillips really have stayed and run his contract down missing two seasons of probable trophies with City? They tend to move to other targets quite quickly as Harry Kane found out
Not wishing to diss KP as he’s a Leeds fan but maybe they really care about their current clubs so want them to get top money if they move on?
Supposedly Scum are going out to get big names and being knocked back. I don't see them getting De Jong. Anyways Scum's transfer focus will suddenly change if Ronaldo goes to Chelsea
Depends who they'll be able to bring in. My understanding is that half the squad has been told they can leave. They're trying to sign big but getting knocked back and the fan's want Ten Hag to play moneyball and look at the smaller leagues
Just pissed off because we all know that the lower the fee the more the money that goes into the players / agents bank accounts.
Clever wording for the lad heading our way in a deal ‘worth’ 5 million. Note, not ‘for’ 5 million. Think those speculating hidden costs might be right, unless of course he goes straight into the first team starting lineup otherwise as others have said, that’s big money for an U23.
I can't see him being an U23 player not at that price. He'll be on the bench yes but not an U23. If I remember correctly the only proper CMS we have are Klich and Shackleton. Injury Adam is a DM and I don't expect him to last much longer.
Think he has only played something like 10 u23 games so can't see him being ready for the first team squad.
