Yes Denzel Washington, just reminded me I lent it to my mate about five years ago and he still has it
Well I'm making myself look a right tit here....I really enjoyed that one. The album I was told to listed to was Blood On The Tracks...I just couldn't get into at all.
You philistine Snaggey , Blood on the Tracks was brilliant, an entire album about his divorce from his wife Sara
It's all a bit different with Dylan, from Subterranean homesick blues, to lay lady lay, all along the watchtower and literally hundreds of others in between. Get a 'best of' (he's got loads tbh). Tangled up in blue is class from blood on the tracks.
I don't want to swamp this thread with Dylan, I love the diverse genres that everyone has posted, this is my last one I promise but in my opinion it has some of the best poetry ever recorded.
Another band not from my era but one I kind of 'reverse engineered' from the ones I liked in the 90s back to their influences. Theme tune to top of the pops back in the day which was, at the time, produced by Chris Cowie, SAFC fan I believe....
I've never seen that video before but he looks cool as **** in that leather jacket. Must be early in his career as well I assume?
I was watching an interview with GE Smith, one of my favourite guitarists and he was asked who the best guitarist in the world and he said Tommy Emmanuel
I'll bow down to your knowledge mate. In terms of music I'm a '90s Madchester' fan at heart. The Smiths, Stone Roses, New Order, Happy Mondays, then Oasis etc. Then I traced those bands back to their influences really and just listened to some of the stuff from before my time like Dylan, Led Zep, the Beatles, a little bit of the pistols and clash but wasn't keen on the punk stuff tbh (not keen on the Beatles tbf, well not he early stuff anyway). My dad is a big Queen/Bad Company fan and he has a few Guns n Roses vinyls so I got listening to that as well.
I listen to most of that music recommended by my two daughters and son, I love music good or bad especially live music. I think I led a sheltered life as a youth, only listened to folk music and I am compensating for that now. That's why I love this thread and the music that I wouldn't normally have access to.
