I got them 2 mixed up, but yeah, your argument was pointless when you said religion is fact.

But no-one knows the real day, saying you do would just be a guess. It's much more significant if his resurrection is celebrated on Easter Sunday, rather than Easter whenever-you-feel-like-it

I may not share your sentiments - but I respect your honesty - and the respectful tone of your reply. I would not wish to force religion on you, and have no problem with ANY non believer in joining in the celebration of Christmas ( or any other festival of which they are not a believer ) - so long as ALL concerned on both sides show mutual respect.

Well why isn't christmas the same? Hold it on a sunday too, as that is considered a holy day i believe. There is nothing which states Jesus was born on the 25th December, yet people use that day to celebrate his birth.

Oh, i thought you were going to fall into the trap other believers do, such as mentioning the giving of presents etc. Valid point you've made then. I don't want to sound like i'm attacking your views, i have no issues with religion, i'm just curious about religious people views of the subject.

But how though? Jesus was (supposedly) jewish, and i don't recall him being mentioned in the qu'ran. Was there any talk about a beardy bloke who could walk on water?

    Not quite.

Originally you said: "If you believe there is no God are you going to celebrate Christmas? If so, why - surely that would be hypocritical." There is no mention of specifically "disrespectful" non-believers and you also appear to be suggesting that a failure to believe in God automatically flags up a hypocrisy if Christmas is celebrated in any way, which is very clearly not the case.

Still, I tend to agree with the rest of your answer and goodwill amongst men has broken out. Happy Christmas.

Well why do muslims follow Muhammad then? if jesus is the star of the book, then surely he's the man you should follow?

There isn't anything in scripture that mentioned the day of the week Jesus was born, but it states in gospels and prophecy etc. that he rose on Sunday. He was crucified, died, and on the third day (which was the sabbath) he rose from the dead. The most practical and respectful way for Easter is to hold it on the same weekdays around the time of year it was supposed to happen, keeping the date would affect the days of Holy Week and the days preceding Lent.

Because Muhammed was the final prophet (correct me if I'm wrong), Jesus was one of many. And Muslims don't follow Muhammed, that's why there are no pictures of him.

we dont 'follow' muhammad. we only 'follow' Allah
Jesus was a prophet, Muhammad was a prophet.

Muhammad has a greater respect if you like (although that is the wrong way to phrase it) as he bought the final message.
Muslims believe Jesus will return etc, we dont believe in th etrinity, and dont believe he died on the cross etc
