Good deal if it happens. Sounds like we’ve accepted £21m for Bergwijn too, £40m+ for players not in our plans is pretty decent.
Charlie Eccleshare’s said we’re not after Jesus but Richarlison and Raphinha are high on our list of targets. I really like Raphinha, think he’s quickly become one of the best wide players in the Prem outside of those at the big clubs and would provide great options out wide with Son and Kulu but he’s not someone who can play centrally. If it were down to me I’d rather sign him and then a striker to cover Kane more so than Richarlison to cover both. We could probably afford both Brazilians to be fair, albeit I reckon that’d be doubtful.
Hopefully Scarlett is ready for a few games this year. Would like to see him in preseason see if he has kicked on.
It's worth noting that we don’t really play wingers as we play 3421, with Conte describing Son and Deki as No10s as the WBs provide the width Good news for Raphinha, as he cuts inside a lot and has played through the middle, not good news for Adama Traore - which is why there was talk of trying to make him a WB back in January
He needs to go out on loan and the destination needs to be a sensible one. Same goes for Parrott. What excites me about them is that they have completely different - and complementary - skill sets. Get their development right and we could be sorted up front for years to come, without spending a penny.
Agree with all that. It’s been said anyway that Scarlett’s gonna head out on loan this season, as is Devine. I’d imagine there’s a ton of lower league scouts at the Euros at the moment and with Scarlett bagging an assist and two goals already and Devine bagging a goal himself, we shouldn’t be shy of offers. Be great if there’s a club who’d take both, do like what we used to do with Yeovil where a number of our players went there simultaneously.
I like Scarlett and Parrot, I think they could form a really good partnership. Parrot seems like he could be moulded into a deeper lying forward who can hold up the ball and seems to have the ability and vision to bring others in. I think Scarlett has the ability to play on the shoulder and get in behind. I think the future looks really promising.
Parrott certainly developed into a Kane-type player on loan at MK, with him often playing deeper (or even as an AM) while Scott Twine played on the shoulder of the last defender
Richarlison scored 7 non-penalty goals this year, and 6 last year. I don't think he's good at anything but flopping, where he's world class. Seeing him warm up before Spurs matches always filled me with confidence.
I don't like him, seems to think alot of himself. Also has a bad attitude and is always liable to be sent off. However Conte obviously sees something in him he likes, fingers crossed if he comes he develops into a world beater.
Parrot really excites me. I think a good loan next season could be the real making of him, his time at MK did him a power of good and he seems to have gotten over some of the rumoured attitude issues - some said a couple years back that he’d fallen in with a bad crowd but now I think his family have come over to live near him and that might have helped him get back on the straight and narrow. He’s got a lot of attributes that are similar to Kane and that’s a rarity to find another like that from the academy. Obviously he just needs to take his chances on loan and kick on, if he ever wants to reach anywhere near Kane’s level. Scarlett is a very different player. He seems a bit more of an ‘off the shoulder’ type, a bit more of a traditional 9 in that sense. He might have the higher ceiling as a pure goalscorer. Whether it’s too early for a loan I don’t know but he looks like he’s come on physically a lot in the last year, for a young man. Maybe like Troy, find a League 1 team that suits him and then look for a Championship loan the next year if it’s successful, or even bring him into the fold if he’ll get the appropriate gametime. They both need to play mens football though, simple as. They won’t get any further just training.
Paratici apparently in Italy to discuss a possible Gil loan to Sampdoria and Rodon to Roma. May also be looking at a deal for Zaniolo from Roma. Huge talent but he’s had two anterior cruciate injuries and he’s only 22. Last guy we signed from Roma also spent over 50% of his Spurs career in the treatment room… I wouldn’t take the financial risk if it were me, even if he is a baller.
Lyall Thomas reckons we still can’t find an agreement with Boro for Spence and may move on if there’s no breakthrough. This is one that Paratici isn’t working on. Never change, Levy, never change He’s also saying Leeds and Everton are braced for bids from us for their forwards. Cody Gakpo is another name on our list, PSV wide forward… little deja vu with that.
He also says that we're already looking at Jonathan Clauss at Lens, which does have the hint of a nudge to the ribs as much as it looks like we had the fallback option set up in advance. The obvious point with Spence is whether or not Boro are playing silly buggers, after all the quoted price in January was £15m and that crept up to £20m, which begs the question if Boro are already saying "Actually, make it £25m" or not - because, if that is the case, move onto Clauss for £8-10m (or, looking outside the box, Di Marzio claims that Joakim Maehle is available for £15m) In other words, Malcolm Ebiowei is having a medical at Palace, so presumably his agent is feeling better today...
Apparently Spurs aren’t in for Eriksen and it’s a straight choice between Brentford and Man Utd. Personally I hope he chooses Brentford as seeing him play for a direct rival will be horrible
Depends which rumours you read, some are saying Eriksen has a verbal agreement with Spurs, others saying we have not made him an offer. Others also claim 7 or 8 clubs are interested in him, then others say its between Penited and Brentford. Apparently he is on holiday and under contract at Brentford until June 30th, so the saga should be put to bed in a weeks time.
Murdoch's Hate Comic claims that Boro are asking for £15m + £5m in addons for Spence, which of course SpursWeb has reported because they'd die without the anti-Levy rage clicks that make up their userbase these days Realistically, what we're doing is tipping our hand at Spence not being first choice against Southampton
Lucas Paqueta of Lyon, who I think we've been linked with, has had to undergo minor surgery. He injured himself flying a kite.
