Things have changed since the 70's the Unions can't just throw their toys out of the pram and call a strike. They have had six months of negotiations where the Railways management have not budged on their stance, the RMT had to give two weeks notice of their intention to ballot their members on strike action, after two weeks the ballot papers were sent out and four weeks later the result showed the members favoured strike action by 7/1, there is a few days inbetween before the RMT issued their course of action having to give two weeks notice. At anytime the Railway bosses could had reached some sort of settlement with the RMT but they chose not too, treating their staff and more importantly their customers with contempt. Looking to point the finger of blame? blame the millionaire bosses not the workers.
That was just my guess, he could be earning more, he could be earning less (I won't comment on your flippant assessment of the skills of his job). My point was that memes such as Oldies are flagrantly misleading and insulting. The average wage of an RMT worker is around £31K, and very few of them drive trains.
Matter of interpretation surely a refusal to discuss and agree modernisation which would result in some redundancy is the same as saying we will not accept any job loses which is like saying we want jobs for life
With every industry job losses are incurred with modernisation and that is accepted by the Unions, it is how they go about it is what needs to be agreed. While bosses pocket bonuses bigger then three workers wages on top of the obscene wages they pull telling them 2% plus loads of strings attached is the best on the table sort of grates on you a little.
what a load of lying cock 1/ show the proof of who he is and link to where you found it 2/ ITS AGAINST THE LAW FOR A DRIVER TO GO ABOVE 8 HOURS they do stop to change drivers 3/Then why don't the drivers carry on working while the ticket inspectors cleaners ect negotiate a rise 4/ and all this time the boys from Liebour take 10 million from the RMT to back them instead of backing the country, even standing on the picket lines while claiming their MPs pay. what hypocrisy, yet the gullible believe the lies 5/ Show the link to the drivers not being RMT IF YOU SPOUT **** PROVE YOUR NOT LYING
Please confirm that what you are saying is that the rail workers are being offered 2% with a load of strings attached I thought it was 4% As usual getting at the truth is somewhat difficult when the spin doctors have their say
This is the link for Dominic (AKA Kevin) ; https://www.shropshirestar.com/ente...-train-driver-i-do-see-some-beautiful-sights/ Dominic (AKA Kevin) himself says drivers work up to 10 hours per shift (or a maximum of 8 if they start before 5am), so you can call him a liar if you like. RMT does have some members who are drivers but broadly represent train and rail workers in general (you know it's not just the driver that keeps trains running right ?). I can't find the specific link I got earlier with the make up of the RMT membership but if I find it I'll post it for you. Here's the link showing that 96% of drivers are members of ASLEF ; https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/61840077
HMRC data shows that the average UK salary at the start of 2022 was £24,600, a 6.3% increase YoY (Jan vs Jan). So £6k average better off. In the UK, the salary of £50,000 is above the average. It's a very decent salary in the UK. The average total salary for a family with two working adults is £40,000. £50,000 gross will bring you 67% above average income.7 Jun 2022
bbc most biased network out there before i answer you conveniently left out the 10 million quid the RMT gives Liebour each year, The Liebour MPs claiming full pay for being on the picket line Domenic is a lying **** he is dealing with peoples lives and has to follow the same rules as a long distance lorry driver, and show his stamped card
Your meme = £71,000 Actual average wage of RMT worker = £31,000 So £40,000 better off apparently. And your point is ? The average wage is far too low, that's why people (even some that are in work FFS) still have to resort to universal credit top ups and food banks to make ends meet. But hey, let's just keep paying millions to the bosses and shareholders of all these companies and sod the workers eh ?
It is 2% with a further 1% if a multitude of strings which means job cuts and a loss of wages for those that remain, no one would agree to that. The spin doctors are spinning alright and you are lapping it up. A straight 4% and a sensible way forward in regards to natural wastage and voluntary redundancies would probably be closer to reaching a agreement.
Airports ****ed up they can't manage, petrol and diesel prices through the roof, trains now in dispute, you'd think someone doesn't want the plebs to travel these days, Maybe Boris should put the RNLI and the Navy to run the trains and airports they're doing a cracking job moving people on the south coast. It's all organised chaos people, wake the **** up.
Thought you'd say that, although in reality the BBC do nothing to hold the government to account. I never mentioned RMT's donations to Labour, you did. Sorry, I don't have access to Dominic's stamped card, can't help you with that one (WTF ?). Up to your usual tricks again Roger. Call someone a liar, ask for proof, get proof, then ignore it, finally change the subject to something that wasn't even mentioned in the argument in the first place and claim I conveniently left it out when I didn't even bring it up in the first place.
