Okay. January will soon be here - imagine Brendan won the lottery and could buy three players. Given that the boys have done great so far - which 3 would you be willing to sacrifice in the effort to establish our place - would it still feellike the Swans?

Monk , tatey and routledge , sorry but despite everything we need younger players who are better and actually do score in this league. Still it ain't gonna happen as they are all under long term contracts .

hard question, i think everyone who came up deserve a chance of at least one season in the premiership. i would sacrifice Boddie, dobbie and beattie, if i had no choice..

come on guys I could have chosen players from the reserves as well, or ones currently out on loan, so lets re-phrase the question slightly, who in the starting line up including subs would you choose? and I did choose tatey, but he is out injured I accept that . so will choose moore instead

For me Monk, nice honest lad have nothing but praise for him, but need someone with a bit more quality. Have to agree with Orlandi, again a decent player but not up to PL standard. Of what I have seen of him doesn't instil confidence is Routledge, if Sinclair and Dyer were out I'm not sure he could fill the void left but one of them.

Let us presume that the team that started the last two games appear to be the backbone.
On the bench we have two maybe three who could come in, so, what we are looking for are three players good enough for the bench (better than we have got) and won't fall apart if brought on the pitch and also to push those on the pitch a little harder than the current bench. To be honest, I don't think we have anyone on the bench who is going to make a difference - yes we have injuries, but don't you think our team goes down when the subs come on?
Well Orlandi, Moras, Cottrill, Butler, and probably Bessone and Moore. Need to keep the youngsters, but likes of MacDonald should go. We need 2 Centre backs (remember we have one on loan), 2 midfielders with a bit of class and probably a full back cover. So loads to go out, which would cover the extra costs over and above Brendan's lottery winnings.

I'd keep the money & buy another ticket !! . We'll get Augustien , Caulker & possibly Bodde back soon , Dobbie's waiting in the weeds . If my life depended on it & we could get good money for Routledge I'd get a utility defender on what we got from him but even Routledge is good cover for a tired Dyer . Many teams go in search of improvement , spend their money , I lose what they had in the first place . Value wise , wouldn't change nothing . All were really looking for is 17th place really , let everyone else spend money because they have it & we'll prove players grow with the team if given the chance . P.S. I'm not counting the Orlandi's , Butler's , MacDonald's , players that will see very limited action

i would go with Butler, Orlandi & Beattie just get them out of the way so we can possibly bring in a few young & Hungry players who are able to change the game / relieve the burden on the 1st XI if needed, am i right in saying that SITU comes into the equation in January so there's 1 we already have at our disposal, McEachran & another defender i feel maybe try & get EDgar off of Burnley can play all accross the back and knows how we play maybe Bates / Emnes :)

Of the starting line up (As the question Jager asked is regarding the starting line-up plus subs), my sacrifice would be Orlandi, Lita and Moore. I could never sacrifice Monk, not after the years of service he's given to this club.

Actually quite surprised to see his name mentioned above. We all hold him with such high regard, not.

JackAsh. As usual you put sentiment in front of pragmatism. Sorry, but there's no room for that in football. No way is Monk good enough to play against the better teams in this League. His frailties have been shown in sharp relief this season already - particularly away from home. I'm not saying get rid completely as he is a useful player to have as cover, and I've taken 'sacrifice' to mean 'lose from the first team'.

So unlike others who have picked players who have either gone out on loan already or don't get near the first team I've gone for Monk, Orlandi and Moore. All three would normally be close to the first team - usually on the bench. That said I woud lose other peripheral players before them in reality: Butler, Cotterill and Beattie (who's out on loan already).

Routledge? Well documented that I think he flatters to deceive but as has been said he's good cover for Dyer / Sinclair as nobody else gets close on pace.

I worry about Lita too. Graham is doing great right now for us but if he gets injured is Lita good enough? Not sure if he has the guile or finesse required for this League.

monk has been outstanding and a great captain so far this season, he may not play every game but what an option to have when needed. he should end up on the coaching staff when his contract is up in 3 years time an experienced player at all levels that we cant afford to discard...
