Morning all. It is possible to think today without breaking out into a sweat in the process of doing so. A big storm last night, with the full works of rain, thunder and lightning and even hail. It seems to have created another job for me as a section of gutter on the barn had become detached. Getting ladders out is easy, but the wisteria will need pruning before I find a safe piece of ground for the ladder to stand on. Then there will be a large quantity of foliage to dispose of. I cannot start as it is raining now. Another coffee I think. Have a good day everyone.
Morning all. Outside has that damp smell after rain on dried foliage and earth. A really spectacular light show up above last night easily outdoing our annual fireworks display. The rain that came with it was extreme in the quantity that fell over a couple of hours. There is no need for me to get the watering can out, and some farmers will be very grateful for it. Have a good day everyone.
Afternoon All, The good news: my Rammstein ticket arrived this morning. We've been working out the logistics given the likelihood of the rail strike (we were travelling by car anyway and staying in the area) and I have family and friends "in the area", however... Still testing positive on day 12... which is a negative, obviously. Hopefully I will be clear in time. My conscience won't let me go on a positive test, but it is now the faintest of lines. I will be wearing a mask anyway, coming up for a slurp of beer every now and then. I am dreading the beer prices! UK Foo's the following week, alas I couldn't get a ticket for the Taylor Hawkins memorial show, and then Elton on the Sunday night at the Vic. It's all go on the social front... Hopefully! Have a grand day!
My faint positive line dragged on for three days... really annoying... mme went from positive to negative in one
It's been an interesting week. 3 weeks ago my group did a nice bike ride near Alton Towers. Hilly but very attractive. Most of the group went by car to Oakamoor (start/finish). I went by train and cycled the gaps , including a 1 -in 6 out of Oakamoor to get back to Blythe Bridge. Did walk a few metres after the steepest bit. 42 miles - I was buzzing. Anyway ,last Friday we had a local ride (South Cheshire) and I could barely get up the bank near us across the mighty River Dane. ( Think Amazon and you will be completely wrong). Breathing was desperate. Still, I managed it. Fast forward 5 days, visit to Pharmacy ,1100 , surgery 2pm ( that was lucky) local hospital Day case emergency at 3pm and diagnosed with pulmonary embolism by 7pm - actually one in each lung. NHS absolutely amazing. So , anti- coagulants for me from now on , and mustn't fall off my bike ! Still ,could be worse - at least exercise is encouraged so in due course I'll be out again. Most likely cause is a long drive in the car ( Glasgow to Cheshire 4.5 hours at least) without stopping. So apart from boring everyone with my condition, I thought the long drive observation might be a useful warning to the wrinklies among is. And ,at last Mrs J T is showing signs of improvement. 15 months is a long time ,but the trend is +ve. Cheers all
I wouldn't want it from the sound of it. Whoever dreamed up that name for a medication. No it's 'apixaban'. I have recovered quite a lot. I hope the car journey caused it , as if there is a cause, it can be avoided. If it comes out of the blue then I suppose it could happen again. Anyway , mustn't grumble.
Similar to clopadogril in some ways which I take and ended up in hospital as it caused an internal bleed..... so check out things like aspirin they may be contraindicated
Thx. I know I need to check certain things - stools etc. The tribulations of getting old(er) compensated (?) by still being here.
I ended up with an antacid to stop the meds aggravating my stomach.. .meanwhile what fun. Meanwhile my 'urgent' referral to diabetes clinic has been cancelled this morning .. .the clinician is off sick and my next appt is in a month....... crazy.... so i have to juggle meds which have nasty side effects for another month
Morning all. This extraordinary weather continues. Woken by heavy rain on the roof, shortly followed by thunder and lightning, and now it is as dark outside as it was at 10.30 last night. This is summer and normally a thunderstorm will come along, clear the air, then there will be a dry week or more as the temperature builds again and we get another downpour. This cycle is broken for the time being with repeat storms and places reporting flash flooding. And now we have locally taken pictures of fires caused by lightning sending barns full of hay up in flames. I wouldn't rule global warming out somehow. Have a good day everyone.
Morning all. After yesterday's rain and storms, this morning clear blue sky and already warm. Major clearing up job to do having chopped back a rampant wisteria, and I haven't got to the selecting and pruning which bits to keep yet. Fuel prices are still very high, so trying to organise things so that we make one trip out instead of two. The roads around these parts are very quiet normally, but even more so now. Have a good day everyone.
Perhaps we should move all health issues to a new thread which would make hypochondriacs happy, and everyone else could ignore yawn yawn. I remember a Punch cartoon in which a middle-aged man is sitting on a hospital bed , and says to his wife... " you don't realise what this means to a hypochondriac , dear, I'm sick beyond my wildest dreams ". Anyway , BP check today. Cycled to surgery. All good. Cycled back , up the hill (40 metres of elevation) in usual gear without getting out of breath. So the clots are diminishing. Have a good one !
Morning all. A bit of a breeze coming up from the south west, a bit like England I see. Off to the lab again for Mme to have another blood test. The doctor wanted her to have four, ten days apart to see if her sodium level was back to normal. Don't take salt, do take salt, try these pills, stop taking these pills. It is a bit like a science block in a secondary school. Have a good day everyone.
