James has always reminded me of Aidy White, runs down cul de sacs and then, but doesnt know what to do, but Aidy was peanuts not close to a club record fee
I don't think we will have that much of a problem. Sounds a bit daft I know. We have too many wingers on the books and we need to get those numbers down. If we lose Rapha I wouldn't go for another winger. James can go on the wing and although I'm not a massive fan of his in general I'd expect more assists and goals from him if he played in the correct position. If we get Bamford up top and get Aaronson going or we bring in extra players who improve the overall team then the loss of Raphinha should be offset by the emergence of others in the squad. We'll become less reliable on individuals and be less predictable. Of course this will only happen if we get the recruitment right. That's the key element.
After watching meslier and the brightin goalie at elland rd i changed my mind about meslier. The gaytown goalie was bigger in stature and very athletic. Brighton broke at will as he kicked out of hand quickly and very long and direct. His players took up positions to recieve the ball. Meslier on the other hand needs beefing up. He floats his kicks giving the oppos time to challenge. Others have posted about his poor distribution and regretfully i have to agree. So i think we either need a new coach or a better goalie.
News from Spain, Barca are preparing a 50m€ bid for Lewandoski. Not sure they have that cash available and if they did surely they would not be able to also buy Raphinha.
Just been listening to Danny Kelly's Trans Global Express show on Talksport. From what he and Tim Vickery have said is that Barcelona, to get some funds in to allow them to buy some players this season, have sold 25% of their future tv broadcast income, and just under 50% of their future marketing rights. The articles below suggest that these two deals will bring in around 600-700 million Euro https://www.washingtonpost.com/spor...7ba600-ee2d-11ec-9f90-79df1fb28296_story.html https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soc...te-for-sale-of-future-merchandising-tv-rights
This will not solve their problems, As the spanish frase goes, Pan para hoy, hambre mañana. Bread for today, hungry tomorrow.
Oh I agree, and that's precisely what Kelly and Vickers were saying. I thought I had left my comment in that "it looks like they are trying to do a Risdale" but I must have deleted it when I was adding the links from the press when I edited my post. However whilst it may well create even more dire problems for them in the future, it will pacify those fans in the short term by allowing them to bring in major signings this season, hence being able to hint at signing the likes of Lewandowski. The fact that this could create major financial problems for them in the future, will also be of little consolation to ourselves, if we end up selling Raphinha to them instead of a club that makes a higher offer, because Raphinha doesnt want to go anywhere else other than Barca
Supposedly it's not actually Raph who's pushing for the Barca deal it's Deco. Deco is on the books at Barca as a scout. Raph is supposedly happy to go to Liverpool or Chelsea.
Plenty of reports this morning saying Arsenal have had a £50m bid accepted for Raphinha, another saying Spurs trying to hijack Arsenal Raphinha deal? If its true that Chelsea wanted him too well Deco also played for them why would Raphinha want Arsenal when they are not playing Champions League? Makes no sense to me
About to post the same thing. According to Goal's Brazilian outlet Raph will join Arsenal at the end of the week.
Because this season will be about first team appearances and the World Cup and next season the champions league. Raphinha obviously doesn’t feel like we’ll improve that much, or he’s not impressed with Jesse or a bit of both. He’ll probably get his release fee built in to an Arsenal contract and his fee could be huge if he has a good World Cup. I hope it is Arsenal who get him and I hope we have a decent sell on clause
Let the bidding war commence on Rapha he's a wanted man. let's face it he's going; I don't want players here if they don't want to wear the shirt. it's up to us now to get the right deal. Anyone else the same applies if you not with us feck off and we will find you a club.
I’d love to keep him,I think with the WC we’d get an amazing 16 games out of him but I do fear what he would be like commitment wise on his return
Surprised me but the signs are that Phillips is out and its Tyler Adams at the top of Marsch’s list. His club are resigned to losing him and Leeds are amongst a few clubs chasing him. RBL have just bought a replacement? Adams and Roca could be a blast
Adams is pretty injury prone. Hopefully him and Forshaw can alternate in the treatment room rather than simultaneously injured.
Just had a look at all his stats, which in fairness are pretty good. His average game rating points is 6.5 every game. His heading, possession, tackling and ball retention very good. His weakness is concentration at times. He missed 4 games last season through injury, 5 games the season before. He had a serious injury in 2019 so missed a lot of games. 30 full caps for the yanks who are now ranked inside the worlds top ten
