Yes - the by elections will give a better indication of public opinion than the vote amongst his own ranks. It's just a shame that the whole House didn't get a vote - if they had I'm sure he'd be contemplating his P45 this morning. Our MP voted for him - "after consulting with his constituents", a claim I suspect to be total horsesh*t. Another one I spotted on social media - can't remember her name, but from somewhere in Norfolk - claimed she voted for him because her constituents had voted for him in the 2019 election, which I found rather odd. I wonder if the result will tempt him to call a general election? The narcissist in him will be focussing on the 211 votes that went his way - he's probably already forgotten about the other 148.
Take out the number of MPs on the government payroll who had to vote for him or resign, you find that around 75% of his own party wanted him to go. He clearly will carry on as though this never happened, but he may still be forced out when the committee that is about to take evidence on his lying to parliament reports. There appears to be a queue of people today questioning if he was under the influence of some substance when he gave his interview after the result came through. I wouldn't know, but there are others closer to such things than me suggesting it What a dreadful view of the country to the outside world that such a thing should even be discussed.
Well... This takes some reading. Absolutely appalling dereliction of duty right the way across the board. I'm absolutely speechless.
I didn't know this. It seems quite bizarre. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...-of-liters-of-petrol-to-us-where-it-s-cheaper
It does. I can't quite work out how, but it sounds to me as though the British public are somehow being ripped off.
Just how low is Johnson prepared to stoop in order to retain power? Apparently he ordered MPs to provide picture evidence of how they voted in the Confidence vote. Thankfully the 1922 Committee had the sense to require MPs to hand over their mobile phones before allowing them to vote. https://thepavlovictoday.com/exclus...E6KHSxDNT3zge3qaViL3APtzSlppXI76YBlnU0QVPmF8E
COVID-19 cases in the UK have surged by nearly half in a week, official figures show. Last week, an estimated 1,415,600 people had coronavirus in the UK, up 425,800 or 43%. Race leader Aleksandr Vlasov and Olympic mountain bike champion Tom Pidcock have withdrawn from the Tour de Suisse following positive Covid tests. Three entire teams - UAE Team Emirates, Alpecin-Fenix and Bahrain-Victorious - also pulled out for the same reason. And EF Education-EasyPost withdrew four riders, including Rigoberto Uran and Briton Hugh Carthy. In total, 29 riders had pulled out of the race before the start of Friday's stage six as a result of the outbreak. There seems to be a bit of a new outbreak in many places, so I don't believe the message "it's all over" is right.
His description of priti patel: all the warmth of a Klingon back street abortionist... Stephen King would struggle to pen better.
Have just pre-ordered his book - Decade In Tory - due to be released in October. Quite reasonably priced in Amazon at £17.99.
I thought hard about being a sponsor of the book. Regrettably I couldn't quite justify the cost. Close.
Not the brightest piece of plankton in the ocean is Mr Habib - Rwanda being landlocked, he doesn't seem to have given any thoughts about how ships would travel across land to get there.
It's good news week... Crushing defeats for BoJo in both Tiverton and Wakefield. "Tory candidate barricaded herself in a room to avoid cameras" https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politic...lts-wakefield-tiverton-honiton-boris-starmer/
