Second half of the season he was poor. Not just his goal return but his overall play.

Now he played a lot of football (lots of ET in afcon) had afcon and World Cup disappointment, so do need to take that into account so hoping start of season he picks up again.

But given contract situation, £100m would be hard to turn down tbh. Don’t see it happening, think clubs will wait and see if can snap him up on a free in January.

This is a bit of a pivotal moment for Liverpool. Football supremacy is always cyclical - Man City may be harder to dislodge, due to having more money than God and abusing every FFP regulation available with zero punishment. Their feeder club network is wider, their reach on youth further and so on.

But for Liverpool they've had a spine of a team and an incredible attack all hitting their prime at exactly the same time. The next two years could, in all likelihood, see a slight dip. Is Nunez the answer? Not sure. Diaz looks decent, but you're also entering the twilight for Salah, Henderson, VVD. Don't get me wrong - dropping a few places is never the end of the world. But at some point it won't be L'pool/City every year.

Could be a good buy if he gets back to previous form. His stocks lower so could see his value double in 1 season.

All Newcastle fans want is a club that tries

Newcastle and Leeds have been linked with Burnley's Nathan Collins but Wolves and Leicester are expected to make bids for the Republic of Ireland defender, 21, this week. (Sun)

Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly, 28, from Manchester United. (Mirror)<laugh>

The Magpies have also been told they must pay £50m to sign 22-year-old Bayer Leverkusen and France winger Moussa Diaby. (Sun)

DCL over Wood, Gayle, Sibierski, Joselu, Kuqi, Ameobi, Ranger, Gouffran, Riviere, Murphy, Xisco, Viduka, Best, etc, etc, etc, etc etc.

Basically bar Ba, Cisse and Wilson he'd be the best striker we've had since Shearer retired.

He'd be great cover/competition for Wilson and if fit is good for 15 goals a year.

The repetitions on these rumours is really dull. No offence for people here, I mean the "journo's" and Twatterati.

Balderdash. He’s a bang average striker. He’s only got 15+ in one season in his career. Admittedly he had a very good season that year. However his stats are very similar to that of Chris Wood though Chris Wood played for Burnley and not under Ancelotti

Agreed I think last few years we’ve had a really settled side in their prime and seen the benefits. Klopp is now in that period where he has to show how good a manage the is in rebuilding a team, in the way not a lot of managers do. Mourinho for all his great work struggled and it’s why he never lasted more than 3 years anywhere imo. Ferguson was brilliant at it.

I think we’ve started rebuilding the last year or 2 though.

Diaz, Jota, Nunez all in last 2 years, all 25 and under and got them in while phasing out mane, origi, firmino looks like might be going, same with Salah.

Elliott, Carvahlo in to replace hendo in next couple years. Strong rumours we’ll be in for Bellingham next season.

Then Konate in for Matip, and looks like the big powerful CB that could replace vvd (obv not as good but where do you find vvd quality atm?).

This year might be a bit more of a struggle while we transition but the works being done in the market to replace those older players before they completely drop off a cliff in terms of performance. Get the young players in for a year or two to learn and develop alongside the likes of vvd thiago Hendo Salah before eventually replacing them.

He maybe better than Wood but he's nowhere near to Wilson tbf and Everton want 60m/50m for him??? He isn't worth that price, maybe for £25-30m max.

Even so at £30m, I will still look and take the likes of Gouiri / Scammacca / Gakpo over him.

Nufc won't sign a big name striker they haven't got the money or the pull yet

Wood Wilson Ekitike and DCL would be a big improvement

People who turn down DCL are bonkers. He is a big upgrade on everyone except Wilson.

You're wasting your time with these people. They thought we had a chance with Nunez and still haven't established the reality at this stage.

They even ignore the evidence in favour of mental gymnastics regarding the money that's available.
