8 goals and 4 assists for Ajax last season...which is immediately sounds less impressive when I mention that makes him joint fourth for scorers behind Haller, Tadic and Klaasen and fifth for assists behind Tadic, Berghuis, Haller and Gravenberch On the fundamentals, he's got a lot of pace, is good with the ball at his feet and likes to cross from deep, but doesn't track back and in spite being a RW apparently wasn't born with a left foot
Antony is a 22 year old Brazilian winger who plays for Ajax. Manure after him too and their new manager is a positive link although a swap for Bergwjin may work for Spurs.
And of course a man who I sadly miss, Anthony Bourdain who I would have loved an evening on the lash with as long as there was a paramedic in attendance at all times
The Mirror's linked us with Leverkusen's Piero Hincapie He certainly ticks a lot of boxes - Left-footed CB - Good on the ball and has pace, hence he played at LB more than CB last season - Good in the air, both when defending and as a threat in the opponent's area - Obviously a double hard bastard, as he came through the Ecuadorian and Argentine leagues - Plenty of time to develop, as he's 20 - His role models are Carles Puyol and Cuti Romero The obvious downsides are he's contracted until 2026 (although Bayer do have financial problems, so straight cash could help) while being an Ecuadorian international pretty much guarantees he'll get crocked on international duty, but I have to say that if he is one of Paratici's plates I'm intrigued to see if this leads to anything as he looks like somebody who could be a very smart signing
I was reflecting on that 2018/19 season earlier today. The whole thing was such a whirlwind followed by the most dramatic of collapses that I don't feel I ever really took stock of what Poch achieved with that squad, which was threadbare to say the least. Rose, Dembele and Wanyama broken. Eriksen and Toby wanted out. First team CM from January onward was Winks - Sissoko. Playing at Wembley. Zero purchases in the summer or winter windows. Yet despite that, we never dropped lower than 6th all season and were essentially in the title race until that game at Burnley in mid February. Reached the semis of the Carabao and made history by reaching the CL final. Simply unbelievable when you lay it out in note form. Our league record was remarkably similar to our record in the season just gone, as it happens: 18/19: P38 W23 D2 L13 F67 A39 GD +28 4th, 71 points. 21/22: P38 W22 D5 L11 F69 A40 GD +29 4th, 71 points.
On Eddie Nketiah: Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth: "It shows the pulling power of Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu Gaspar. Crystal Palace were keen, Borussia Monchengladbach were keen. It's what Mikel Arteta said to him that convinced him to stay. I mean that’s some pulling power by Arteta to fight off the likes of Palace and Borussia Monchengladbach!
And even then he only got 5 premier league goals all season. How the media have managed to try and spin that into some major pulling power to keep a player that has been at the club since he’s 16, only scored 29 goals in total and now paying him £100k a week is a joke.
Tbh I get through feeling they are bigging them up in the hope they'll crash so that'll be the big story about them changing manager. They spent the most in Europe last summer (£150m) and are looking to spend very big again...£30m on Vierra, plus Jesus looks like he's joining them and that's expected to be for £50m and Tielemans is expected to cost £30m. They still want at least 1 central defender and a defensive midfielder. That lot will come in at well over £150m. If they ain't challenging for the top four from the off Arteta will be in deep **** imho
Yeah he’s had a lot of leeway and backing from the board imo. I know he started well for them by winning the FA Cup but he’s been underwhelming as a manager overall imo.
Nabbing two of the Woolwich's top targets in the same window would be wumming of the highest quality. £50m is very pricy for what we'd get, same for Richarlison. But if it happens, I imagine that it means Lucas is leaving as well as Bergwijn.
I'm surprised City are even willing to pick up the phone to us after we had the temerity to suggest that Harry Kane is worth more than Jack Grealish.
If Spurs are serious, then Citeh can : 1. Reject out of spite to try and negate the Kane lesson 2. Get a bidding war going between two clubs 3. Not sell a la Sancho, making the implicit statement that Spurs are considered in the PL at least to be a threat
Would that be managerless PSG? Or is this just further evidence that the club is now indeed run by Kylian Mbappe?
