I like it because I’m excited to see us qualify for Europe by building a squad of players who have essentially been stunted by not having opportunities elsewhere. I would much rather us do something interesting than go for “Solid Lower-Midtable Pro”. We are stuck with McCarthy right now as the contract was signed pre-takeover so this is an interesting and sensible solution.

This. The key for me is that City have coached him with the ball at his feet as well as his keeping. Yes there were "safer" options out there but this guy fits Ralph's style perfectly.

We should remember he is a full international. He is young it’s true it’s rare that a player of his age is considered to be an international!! A lot of people have agreed outside of saints he has a lot of talent. People you would normally say know talent when they see it. I think he will push for no one and hold the place.

But how many times do i have to say that, had they failed miserably, it wouldn't really have mattered as we still had adequate backup. We don't have that in the goalkeeping department.

 

McCarthy is not a good number one, but he's better than an awful lot of backups in the PL.

 

Come now. You are talking like McCarthy has one arm or something. Don’t be absurd. He is more than adequate backup. For the longest time he was considered to be (and the stats showed him to br) equal to Fraser - who is now backup for a champions league club.

 

He is a full international too though.

 

Im aware he's a more adequate backup for the odd match. I've said this. My fear is if Bazunu doesn't make the step up, and Mccarthy is back in the side on a consistent basis as number 1.

Honestly, its like a negative opinion against the tide isn't welcome on here sometimes.
