Unashamedly copied from another 606 site.

What have been your greatest sporting achievements, cup winning moments?

I have to admit I have been a jack (no adverse comments please) of all trades - well most - but master of none, having played football, cricket, table tennis, tennis, badminton, squash cross country at school, and most recently running. I refused to play rugby at my rugby playing school and I'm a lousy swimmer.

Won a few 5 a side tournaments, played in a couple of promoted 11 a side teams and was clubman of the year in my retirement season. Was part of a league winning cricket team in my late teens and also in league winning teams in my squash time.

So, what have you all excelled at and won trophies in.

NB: BT, chess isn't a sport!!!

    How about Darts then?

Got through to the area final of the News of the World Darts Championship back in the 70's.

My name is on a few boards at my local golf club.
Won batsman of the season in our Cardiff midweek league team.
Part of the winning team in the Cardiff scouts football league in early 70’s (an old fashioned stopper in the Don Murray mould<whistle>)

Sadly I have none to speak of.

Runner up in an intercompany 5 a-side tournament a few years ago.

Won a clay pigeon shooting competition with one of my old companies and old suppliers on a team building day.

Was a founding member/player of an under 16 football team (Whitchurch Wanderers)... Sadly we were terrible and only won 1 game (opposition only had 8 players turn up).
From memory we disbanded after one season.

Won a few fly fishing competitions back in the day.

Got promoted with the rugby club I played for in Bristol.
Christmas the following year we were top of the next league, worrying about promotion. The next division was the South West which meant travelling to Cornwall for games. The commitee were talking about declining promotion as we couldn't afford it. Matters resolved themselves as we (unintentionally) fell away the last third of the season.

Seeing Ninian's post about golf reminded me I have dabbled a bit, extremely unsuccessfully, in that.

When I started my wife and daughter bought me lessons at a local club.

At the end of the course I asked the pro where we went from there.

He said, "I'm off to the bar." I asked, "What about me?" He said, "Try the practice range." <doh>

Played a number of sports over my many years. My achievement was my consistency - I was rubbish at all of them.

You must have been very small to fit on that pitch. Was Mike "Tatu" Thomas the ref?

Still have all my Subbuteo stuff in the loft along with all the items I inherited from my late brother John too...

Some classic old teams up there.... Used to play for hours with my mates. We created a 4 division league with around 8 - 10 teams in each division....

    Fun times.

Yes Mike ref'd the world cup final back in the 70's. I played for Wales in Malta, Gibraltar, Holland and Belgium with Mike, RIP.

I managed to get as far as half a stadium (one side and one end) but only a small double decker stand in the centre (looked similar to the original Ninian Park grandstand I suppose).

All this chat is making me want to go get it all out of the loft for a game :emoticon-0142-happy
Boot sure Mrs Brizzle would be too happy if I take over the dining table with it though....

Some of the stadiums made by others are very impressive though... I'm not sure Subbuteo themselves (they owned by Hornby/Airfix??) actually make stadium stands etc. now.
All seems to be Zugo (I think) and very expensive.

That’s a cracking time Blueturk. I could only do a half in that. Not any more though. I struggle round the Parkrun now!
