Like you, I'm only guessing. Zimbo is the last of the German contingent and must find it strange now, but there's still a European group as the focus turns, rightly to my mind, to recruiting players like Hayden who have experience of the English leagues. Others like Hugill, Martin and Hernandez have that experience and could well suit the style of play Smith is seeking. Time will tell I suppose.
Chelsea have taken up the option to extend Billy Gilmour's contract. The 21-year-old Scotland midfielder spent last season on loan at Norwich. Gilmour will remain at Stamford Bridge until 2024. Let's hope we don't take him again
According to Transfermarket we paid £9.9m , if we sell him I would rather have the money up front than have the possibility of him sent back at the end of the season .
His agent seems to be agitating for a move back to the Bundesliga but there hasn't been anything from Milot that I've seen. It is said that he agitated for moves when at Bremen so there could be something in this. Schalke don't have the money to buy him outright and it's hard to see how they would be able to next season. I'd hate to lose Rashica for this season just for a £1.5m loan fee. If he wants to go and someone offers £9m then it would be ok, IMO, as we could use the money on another player. The £9.9m quoted could include any add ons which may not be payable, given our poor season and his output of a single goal scored.
According to Football League World City are interested in Ryan Fredericks who will be available on a Free at the end of the month from West Ham. We face Competition from Fulham & Middlesborough.
Webber states that NCFC don’t have much money ……….. Where the hell has at least a £150m gone? The sale of Beundia paid for half of the EPL spend. With parachute payments (when do we receive this?) the total earnings must be at least £200m. Fredericks will go to Fulham if they are genuinely interested.
Wasn't he referring just to incoming transfer business when he said that? If you're really interested in where the money goes, I suggest downloading and studying the club's annual accounts for 2019--2020 and 2020--2021.
A player on £50,000 a week takes £2.6 million of that money in a year. Doesn't take a genius to work out where a lot of that money went when we have something like 40 players to be paid, though most would not be anywhere near that figure I would guess.
You say this each year. It is the astronomical wages footballers get paid each year. If you consider most clubs have someone funding them then we are trying to pay wages sort of in the right ball park without additional funds hence we always don't have much cash to splash. Additionally it is always smart to say you're skint because it stops transfer price inflation.
Archant re-reporting a ropey Sun story that Blackburn want Cantwell on loan. Hard to believe we could be in a situation where we get nothing for Cantwell in terms of fees given he's now into his last year on contract.
In view of the destructive influence that Cantwell could have among the players, especially the youth players since he seems unlikely to be anywhere near the first team, I still think it's vital to get him out of the club even if we get no money for him. This almost certainly isn't going to be a 97-point season, so we can't afford to have negative vibes around him derailing the start of yet another campaign.
