This piece of music was featured at the end of the film, ' The Elephant Man ', which featured Anthony Hopkins and John Hurt.
Lovely piece of music. Maybe the reason I like it is that I took my now wife to see that film on our first date - what a romantic . It was in the Empire Leicester Square so a tad more expensive that the Windsor cinema in Neath!
For many years I sang with the Tenors in a mixed Choir in East Wales. Despite my having a pathological hatred of all religions, the Choir only performed religious works, viz, Requiems, Masses, The Creation, The Messiah, and a bit of Mahler. Despite my disdain, I loved singing in the Choir. This particular video is the last part of John Rutter's Requiem, which we performed in front of a packed audience in the magnificent Hereford Cathedral. It gave me goosebumps when I sang it, and still does as I sing along. This isn't my favourite you tube video of the work, but the one I prefer refuses to play.
Ok, something a little different... TV Themes! Granted, some (most?) of these could be down to fond memories (of the poster) but still, there have been so many great TV themes that this needs exploring Let's crack on.... Star Trek: The Original Series No CGI in those days but I can't tell you how this fired my young imagination! Intro: Outro: One of my favourites: Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) Paddington Such a lovely theme. I have such great memories of those early stop motion, hand drawn wonderful children's shows... The Sweeney Love this one. I wasn't really allowed to stay up and watch it but would sneak downstairs and try! On The Buses The TV theme... And my current (long time) general phone ring tone, Mutiny On The Buses... Steptoe And Son One of my favourite comedies ever...
Some more great TV memories.... Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads Auf Wiedersehen Pet The New Avengers The Professionals Theme (Intro & Outro) This is no doubt the tip of the iceberg, just what springs to mind now. Lot's of cracking 60s themes as well, which I'm sure you more mature folks will mention.
Yes, some big hitters at that table. Now sadly all gone. We'll never see their like again. Not many people could get away with taking the piss out of Sinatra. He was a good sport though. He and Falk go back a long way.
