Real Madrid think the Spanish government should be the only government that funds football clubs and they're the only club that should receive government money.
Agree. The 2006 squad pisses all over this one. Don’t agree that this squad is all that. Some decent players there but doesn’t come close to the previous golden generation. Id also say that that 2006 squad had to compete against much better teams as well. Brazil were far better then, Spain were better, Germany were better. Italy Portugal were better. If that England squad were around today and you had a manager that went for a simple 433 with gerrard Hargreaves lampard in midfield would be getting to finals and won something. Can’t tell me that England squad woukdnt beat Italy in last years euros? Robinson Nev Rio Terry Cole Gerrard Hargreaves Lampard Cole Owen Rooney
Southgate doesn’t help himself by picking 4 right backs and not one single left back in squad. Appreciate chillwell shaw may be injured, but why not try Rico Henry, tyrick mitchell, cresswell? At least they’d offer some witdth and know how to play the role.
As I said above, I've nothing against Southgate as a person. He brought the squad together and built morale initially (squad and fans) but he's just not good enough as a manager and his tactics are poor. I'll always appreciate the effort.
errrrr that wasn't waht w eplayed but i take the point on what could have been. Reality however. **** keepers in 04/06 and still today 100% the defense then was better but james and taa are far superior to neville (but southgate won't use them over walker) Midfield? hargreaves? carrick? nah not having it. mount, foden, grealish all decent, foden is better player tham lampard everr was. None are gerrard but rice is much beeter than hargreaves ever was. Attack. rooney... thats it. the rest hmmmm. owen was already injured. we've a huge amount of options for attakcing players these days and much better wing options. this is why i'd not argue first 11 but that squad? no way its better. Huge amount of options and talent available to southgate to pick and choose out of to get a balance. Kane v rooney Sterling v cole? Sancho etc Foden v lampard? Rice v hargraves Taa v neville. Cashley is better 100% Terry is better 100% Ferdinannd better 10000% than stones etc Keepers equally dismal. better 11 but cmon. let not kid a kidder eh?
I don't think they've withdrawn from the Super League yet either. Having said that, I'm delighted with anyone who draws attention to the oil clubs dodgy dealings. I'm still not sure how Newcastle's owners passed any fit and proper ownership test.
Keepers equally meh Nev is better than walker Terry over stone Rio ove rmaguire Cole over who ever Gerrard over phillips Hargreaves better than rice is right now. Lampard better than mount Rooney better than Sterling Kane prob better than owen was in 06 Cole better than Saka
you are right walker shouldn't be the best RB option england have. thats southgate though. you are right gerrard over phillips all day but then again thats southgate picking the defensive player. will never agree the limited hargreaves was better in his day than rice is now. Lampard v mount... or v foden?? I think foden is the better player and doesn't need to be forward. rooney isn't an LW. cole was the LW option in a 4231 or something so sterling better than cole. Its rooney v Kane in 2006 adn own was already csahgged but he was good but england have loads of options to pick from. Personally I like saka. i think he's got a huge career ahead. cole was cole. He wasn't RW anyway
England "route to final" in the sport washing blood cup. Win group (iran, wales and USA) piss easy right? the follow is predicated on england achieving that simple task. Last 16 runner up from Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, or Netherlands. Likely senegal i suppose but the Dutch could mess us up. QF: France is they win their group OR one of Argentina, Mexico or Poland (likely last 16 opponents) SF: Belgium or Portugal final: Brazil/spain/germany (pick your take) in short.... there will have to be a fair few shocks for england to handily progress this time. QF is certainly possible but to do more will require a bit of bottle and not just sitting back hoping.
Think that is kind of the entire conversation mate, managers not getting the best out of the players available...
Just seen the list of PL players in contention for the Golden Boy award. We have Elliott and Carvalho on there. I noted that Ki-Jana Hoever also appears on the list. Did a quick Google to check out his age and progress etc. and one of the leading stories has in the title something along the lines of - Wolves flop wanted by Ajax. So is he a golden boy or a flop?
Ki is a total flop. He had a real shot at 16/17 but wasn't too bothered to pit it all in so we did quite well to get an exorbitant fee from Wales. Brewser. Sinclair. We've done it a few times now. The attitude ain't right we seem to be able to bring em in, assess and move on
There’s losing to small teams, but when you’re 3-0 down though, you don’t bring on The Amoco Cadiz of defenders, Harry Maguire.
Pinched from somewhere else - I went to the petrol station for a fill up, £95. I drove off without paying. Got caught and charged, had to pay £60 fine. Follow me for more money saving tips.
