when say for example City/Pool etc do it you hear things like ‘it’s ok when you got a £50 mill sub to bring on’ I’m saying let’s make it ok for us too
Rumours suggest we've offered Lo Celso to Atleti Not a surprise, as he looks a good fit for Simeoneball, but I can't help wonder if we're looking to grease the wheels - or, just as likely, nudge Villarreal in the ribs
We already have one of them : NDombele. Also he is probably already fully paid for . Sorted, Nexr !!!
Realistically, we've already been doing that Sanchez cost £42m and he's the depth option Gil is somewhere between £32-36m, depending on how much you believe we valued Lamela in the deal The issue is that so many of our £20/30/40/55m players on the bench aren't supposed to be on the bench, such as Soldado, Lo Celso, and the £55m paperweight in the canteen
At least with the likes of Richarlison (if it happens) and Bissouma, nobody will be on their back if they’re not putting motm performances as the squad they’re joining is already quite strong and settled where as Soldado was supposed to be ‘new striker’ and Ndombele and Lo Celso were big money buys with lots of hype and immediate pressure on them
If the former costs 50m odd (as speculated) , I will. Players need to understand that as far as supporters go, your transfer/wage costs implicitly set a level of expectation (regardless of how inflated the PL market is) .
An interesting development. Monaco of course are now sitting on £70m or so, courtesy of Real. Davinson had a solid end to the season and is decent back up but let's be honest he is never going to be a regular starter with Romero at the club. If a decent bid comes in, I'd take it. Might be repercussions on Tanganga's career too - he might stay put if Sanchez leaves.
Bissouma will likely be fine as £25m in 2022 is effectively £10m in 2008, and also has the get-out that he costs less than the £30m we spent on Sissoko Richarlison, on the other hand, will have fans on his back not because of expectations as he's assumed to be a depth signing across the front three, but because I do get the feeling his general assholishness will have fans nitpicking
I still don't know what the problem people have with him is. I clearly haven't been paying attention. Was he any more of an arsehole than Lamela was? I don't see the problem myself. With Lamela gone we need a bit of that w£$@%r in the team. Let's not get too soft now.
He’s just got one of those faces that you’d love to punch and he does like to dive. That said he gives his all for Everton and works hard on the pitch. I think he would end up quite popular at Spurs if it happens. Although talk this afternoon seems to be that Chelsea will loan Lukaku back to Inter and that Tuchel wants Richarlison. Richarlison is likely to find game time easier to get at Chelsea so that could prove a factor
They are both arseholes, no question. The big difference is Lamela is an arsehole because it's fun being an arsehole. Richarlison is an arsehole because he thinks he's the next Ronaldo.
Rather keep Rodon than Tanganga…but I imagine Conte will want to keep Sanchez around unless his head really gets turned.
The simple difference is that Lamela was an asshole for the sake of the team, Richarlison is an asshole for the sake of being an asshole Or, to put it another way, Lamela was Gennaro Gatusso - Richarlison is Robbie Savage
Is this the best transfer window ever? There is a feeling that we really know what we are doing and that's different.
I'd say the summer of 2005 is a good benchmark, when Arnesen and Jol were cooking up their plans Aaron Lennon Edgar Davids Jermaine Jenas Teemu Tainio Lee Young-pyo ...yes, there's a couple of blips in Rasiak and Stalteri, but you could really see the squad being shaped that window
Think I’d only sell if we got our money back, which is probably doubtful. With Rodon almost certainly leaving, selling two deputy CBs will leave us short and despite Sanchez’s incredible ability to perform fantastic brainfarts at times, chances are we won’t sign a player who is equal/ better than Sanchez to sit on the bench for a fair bit.
Think we’ll only find out at the end of the season. But in terms of most exciting? Possibly. We’re showing real intent and being proactive rather than reactive. Bissouma is having his medical tomorrow so could be wrapped up by Friday/ Saturday. We’re not even a week into the window and we’ll have three players signed with the feeing of a fourth (Spence) almost likely to join sooner rather than later. In usual windows by this point, we’d just be talking about who needs shipping out before we bring anyone in and we’d likely be reading umpteen stories about how we’re linked with someone or considering a bid for them. It’s refreshing to say the least.
Mohamed Ali-Cho, who was linked with us towards the end of last summer is signing for Sociedad. Also @Left on the Shelf may not be too happy, Gavin Bazunu is joining Southampton, £12m deal. That’ll also go down well with Portsmouth who he spent last season on loan with.
