Hopefully this will be the end of the anti football dullard Southgate as England manager.

From open play. Kane scored a debatable penalty.

The manner of the defeats is possibly even worse than the actual results.

Doubt it, unless he walks of his own accord. He got us to the semis and a final and qualified for the World cup. Unless the FA already had reservations, which I doubt, then it would be somewhat knee-jerk to fire him because of glorified friendlies. Plus whoever comes in would have next to no time with the players before Qatar.

Ah yes. Englands route to the World Cup semi final -

    Group stage

Beat Panama and Tunisia but lost to Belgium

    knock out stages

    Beat Colombia on penalties

    Beat Sweden

    Lost to Croatia

I’m’ sorry but the only very good teams they played they lost to.

Southgate should have been sacked in dressing room immediately after the game.

Actually no, he should have been sacked immediately after being appointed!

Southgate’s appointment has just shown up the lack of quality in English Managers. Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Man Utd don’t have an English manager.

Moyes is next with West Ham but was given the chance with Man Utd.

Potter has done ok with Brighton.

Gerrard can get fcuked every day of the week and twice on a Sunday. I want him nowhere near the Liverpool job or England, ever.

He might be slightly miffed at being called English.

This is the problem. As much as I'm not a Southgate fan, he does at least seem to actually want and care about the job, and also seems to be a decent human being and representative for the country. It's all well saying he should go - and I think he should after the WC - but I'm not full of suggestions as to who should actually replace him once he goes.

Of course he wants the job, no one else will employ him as a football manager otherwise.

Was going to say similar, to be fair he knows it’s the highest level job he’s probably gonna get.

Thing is when we got to the WC semi yes we had a nice easy draw but we also only scored from set pieces. Think was somethjng like 60% of our goals were from it. Now, not saying can’t score from them as Liverpool score plenty, but we really struggled to score from open play.

Then had the euros which were bit better and now it’s 1 goal in last 4 which was from a penalty. Given the attacking talent England possess should be creating and scoring more goals from open play.

But Southgate was a defender and as much as he doesn’t want to admit it, he’s a defensive coach

I've no issue with Southgate, he's just a poor manager

Not saying he isn't. But a half-arsed better manager might not be much of an improvement. See Ancelotti at Everton for example.

Agree that it's the most high profile job he'll get, not sure I'd go quite as far as that no-one would employ him (depending on wages etc.).

Agree that ideally we would be more attacking, but the squad as a whole does have some deficiencies and even most of our attacking players aren't coming off the back of stellar seasons at club level. But yeah, there is probably more potential than is being realised at the moment.

I'm sure Southgate would also point to recent tournaments as to the importance of defensive stability.

Anyone that doesn't play seven defenders or select four RBs in his squad as got to be an improvement!

I saw immediate "social media" type fan rage and some on BBC saying he would and should be questioned here and its only 5 months to world cup so questioning this now puts huge pressure on.

This morning i think the rally round had occurred and they were taking credit in the bank,

    My view is this simple

    1. Southgate is an awfully negative manager.
    2. Southgate also is sitting on the biggest pool of English talent in 40 or 5 years.
    3. Expectations are actually sky high after euros.
    4. the world cup is going to a hit country. Not sure exactly how airconditioned the stadiums will be but the training will all be either indoors or fly in and fly out for games etc. this is NOT the conditions to take English players to and expect to grind 120min pens wins in.
    5. whoever organised 4 games i na row post season for the nations league wants shooting. 4th, 7th, 11th and 14th june to play hungary twice, germany and italy. NIGHTMARE
    6. southgate brought his world cup team to these after season games and probably has done some serious harm here. He should have sottd up in front of the whole nation and said he was considering this B team comp and letting guys who didn't have a go at securing a spot for qatar to have a run.

in fairness he gave a change v italy but he also knackered taa and over played kane.

The results mean england won't be in the nationsl league finals anyway i think right?

Better off playing peoepl like bowen, ward proswe tomori, abraham who were no loss than putting the penalty taker whos now 30 through this and not proper rest.
