Not entirely sure that private car owners (and yes, I’m one myself) should be top of any government’s priority list when it comes to the cost of living crisis.

Normally I’d agree, but we have reached a situation where carers in nursing homes are phoning in sick because they can’t afford to drive to work.

More people than just private car owners use fuel. The haulage drivers that transport food - with the costs being passed on (for starters)

Whilst there is a rise in tax collected the fact that it has gone up so much means there is less being consumed so the tax income isn't exactly increased in line with the price rise.

Still more than the measly 5p a litre though.

A STARTING point would be 5p a gallon at least.

I pointed out several weeks ago that if the government failed to react positively to the hike in petrol/diesel prices, then the people most likely to suffer would be those who have to use their own vehicle for work, namely care workers and delivery workers.
As Chilco has pointed out carers who work in care homes are suffering, so how badly must those carers, who have to use their own car to visit multiple clients be suffering.
And as Greg points out, road haulage is also suffering. The Road Haulage Association are saying that it now costs £20000 more to fill the average truck, per annum, than a year ago. Those costs will all be paid for by the general public, many of whom are already ****ed.
As a footnote, with regards to people struggling to pay bills, I don’t suppose many people realise that almost 13 million people struggle to stay online, each month, either not being able to afford broadband or running out of data allowance. In an era when we need the internet to access so many things, such as booking health care appointments, banking, job applications, the welfare system, the internet is a basic need and not a luxury.
Corbyn’s free broadband for all pledge doesn’t look so far fetched now.

With Johnson replaying the Thatcher years of selling off social housing I predict that his next Thatcher tactic will be to go war with the unions, with the full support of the blue media to distort the truth behind the reasons for striking.
I have already seen one MP suggesting that the RMT strike is a deliberate attempt to ruin the economy, yet he didn’t explain how you could ruin something that the Tory party has already destroyed.
I have also seen the suggestion that they will allow “temporary” (scab) Labour to cover parts of the RMT strike.

Just completed a YouGov survey about deporting asylum seekers to Rwanda.
Bitterly disappointed to see that 43% of those taking part support this.
So, there’s the Tories next manifesto pledge sorted - more attacks on asylum seekers, ably supported by that **** Farage.

I saw something saying part of the Rwanda deal is that we bring some of their asylum seekers to the U.K.

    Ridiculous if true

Only 300 out per year - which is surely negligible?

In 2019, did the Tories not say “This is not renegotiable”?
Did they not also get all their MPs to pledge support for it?
In an earlier post I suggested that the Tories would be starting a war with unions, as a distraction and to get the gullible to continue to support them. I should have added that they would return to Brexit to rekindle the anti EU hatred.
