It's all ****e till they are photographed holding the shirt, two prime examples:

Newcastle United are prepared to move to another target after Lille raised their asking price for 22-year-old Netherlands defender Sven Botman from £30m to £36m. (Telegraph, subscription required)

However, the Magpies are still confident of signing 19-year-old Reims striker Hugo Ekitike with a £25.6m offer on the table. (Mail)

Supposedly being quoted £60M to buy Calvert Lewin.

If we were interested then we definitely wouldn’t be at that price.

No point that's a price that doesn't reflect how much his stock fell last season. I would say half that might offer some potential value though.

Ideal scenario, they announce five players and shut up shop for the rest of the window. I can then go back to bed and sleep til August.

Newcastle need to participate in bumping up prices for the big 6 while the max out and then see what's left.

Must admit I don't really care how much we do or don't pay for players (provided it doesn't hamper us doing more business). People mention FFP and the restrictions the club has, the club is keen to play down the budget, but the reality is the fans and those providing commentary don't actually have a clue what those restrictions are and the club will obviously play down their budget to avoid Newcastle Tax.

60m is over the top for DCL and 50m is over the top for Ricarlison. Everton have well documented financial issues to overcome so its obvious what they are trying to do, utilise the sale of one asset at an inflated rate to lessen the need to sell others weakening the squad. I just look at the players and whether they are good options to improve our stature. The likes of Ricarlison and DCL massively improve our forward options so if the club can afford to stump up the money and it doesn't put all our eggs in one basket, then they can fill their boots for me in terms of fees paid or wages. DCL has a **** sense of fashion, Ricarlison is diving ****. I'd take either in a heartbeat despite this.

I agree except the buying of them as I think we can and will get better players.

I would guess it’s the FFP part which we will be keeping an eye on in relation to prices. We will have a finite amount we can spend but no one but the Club knows how much.

Also agree that how much we pay for anyone is irrelevant to us the fans as it’s who you get that counts not how much you pay. But because of FFP and the scrutiny we will be under and to avoid inflated prices in the future and to ensure we fill the necessary positions within the money allocated I would guess the Club have a figure as to what players are worth and won’t go above that.

Neither Calvert Lewin nor Ricarlison are worth those figures and we can get better players elsewhere for or within those figures.

Firstly, assuming it’s true, which I don’t accept as why would you tell anyone how much you will actually spend, how much of that is to be spent in this window? If you don’t know, which you don’t, then I’m correct……again.

    :)
