    Hope everyone gets well soon.... not good......

    Meanwhile we had lunch in a little village in central France right by the mairie where people vote...I can safely say that in the 3 hours we were there I did see two people go in to vote...after their meal........................

    Seems that just under 50% bothered to go and vote. As someone who gets blank looks from time to time, a headline about the results are a good example.
    "Législatives: la gauche unie et le camp Macron au coude-à-coude" Being English I think of the left and Macron being neck and neck. Actually it says they are elbow to elbow. One day I will maybe get it, although by tomorrow I will probably forget. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

    I'm sorry to hear that you are still suffering. I am amazed that no one in my family has had Covid yet.

    On another note. Has the M6 become a toll road? If so how much does it cost?

    We are in the midst of our first cold snap of the winter. Hopefully I will be able to go skiing later in the week. It is definitely too cold for surfing now, not that the temperature stops some people. I am just a wuss.

    Morning all. Bright and a little breeze here this morning. Sales of electric fans will no doubt rise this week as the forecast heatwave gets closer. Each day this week an increase in temperature is expected, and we now have a red alert telling us that by Friday 38 ° C can be expected. Unfortunately there are reports of tracts of hillsides down south on fire. There are plenty of signs telling people to be careful not to leave glass or inflammable items about, but an outbreak still seems to happen somewhere in the very dry areas. The only positive is the amazing speed of the regrowth amidst the charred trees after a winter with rain or snow. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

    And the power companies will no doubt be rubbing their hands together with glee at the thought of all that extra usage?

    I was reading a news item from Australia this morning - Queensland residents have been warned to expect load shedding daily between 5pm and 11pm because not enough power is being generated in the State to meet demand. They have also been given the following tips to cut down on usage -

    * cut down the number of rooms in their homes being heated by air conditioners;
    * switch off all appliances when not in use, rather than leave them in standby mode;
    * switch off their pool filters and second fridges.

    How the other half live...

    No, just the "Birmingham Bypass" as I call it or the "Midland Expressway" to give it its correct title, which runs from the M6/M42 to north of Wolverhampton. 27 miles of blissful motorway driving. £6.50 for a car. The regular M6 is a nightmare, and that's my opinion from a coach seat, a real kidney kicker of a road. Well worth the money imho.

    On another note, Mrs Fez has tested negative today. I'm doing better than I thought I might be but apparently the next couple of days are going to give the clues as to how this goes.

    Morning all. Back from the fields having decided to get and do my watering before the sun really starts to throw out some heat. Currently 27°C, but expected to be into the 30's later. The lab where we go for a blood test has decided to e-mail results to us rather than send them through the post. Mme gave them an incorrect address on her last visit, and checking up the address she gave them actually exists. Someone, somewhere will have received something that tells them their sodium levels are a bit on the low side. I hope they do not panic. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

    That reminds me of my email dealings with the AA here. I gave my email address but the AA person misheard it as sodthefish. It was so difficult to change it with the AA that I created a sodthefish email address just so that I could get their messages.

    Morning all. The giant ash tree down the lane says that there is no breeze, and it feels hot already. 35°C for this afternoon, so I will not be stirring from the shade of the house then. Trip to the hospital this morning for Mme to see the anesthetist in preparation for her new hip next month. The car park is free to use, and I can just imagine the reaction from the locals if charges were introduced. I hope I can park under one of the trees while I wait. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

    Morning all. Currently 32°C and rising despite the hazy cloud cover. The camp site in the small town 12 kms away has seen the return of the regulars who park up on the same spot each year under the shade of the trees. It was hoped that the town council was going to refurbish the building and install a chef in the restaurant just outside the campsite, but reports say that idea was cancelled when the estimates came in to bring the kitchens up to date. Still there has been some regeneration with a closed down bar being reopened as a small bistro and what was the baker now a crêperie. Other small shops are replacing closed down ones, and there is a feeling that the town is on the up again after a slow decline. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

    Morning all. Still getting hotter with 36°C forecast for this afternoon. Yesterday it was reported that France had seen a record temperature for this time of year, 40°C at Saint-Jean-de-Minervois a town down south. According to some people who like to comment, this cannot be true as 150 kms away down on the coast it was only 30°C. I wonder why it is cooler on the south coast than inland, or on the west coast than it is here. I think I know why, but prefer to try and do my little bit to stop the planet getting hotter. Will go to the supermarket later and share their freezer section with others. It might be quite crowded. Have a good day all. :emoticon-0157-sun:

    Afternoon folks, still very much +ve alas.

    So riddle me this: the app says my isolation is over this morning, there's no encouragement to take a test, and yet: the thick T bar came up long before the C bar, before the indicator had reached the C bar let alone the end of the strip. Vented my spleen on Twitter!

    Not feeling too bad but I know about it if I forget to take a Lemsip... it's the difference between between feeling a bit poorly and proper rough. Does not appear to have taken on any threatening connotations.

    Have a good day everyone, stay safe.

    Hopefully you'll improve soon, but who knows? My wife's self-isolation period ended on Wednesday and she had to return to work yesterday - her allotted amount of Covid Special Leave having ended - but she was still feeling rough. She went again this morning but only lasted until lunch time before coming home. Only two more weeks until the end of the school year, and it can't come quickly enough for her.

    Your right about the effects of Lemsip. I tested positive yesterday afternoon and have been thankful for the stuff. I'm also thankful for the current spell of 'hot' weather, we have a very hyperactive dog who likes nothing more than long walks and games of football in the garden - but not in this weather. Being normally the only one at home during the day, I know I simply couldn't cope with the football, never mind the long walks.

    Sorry to read you've caught it too. It's on a bit of a roll at the moment. I rather stupidly thought it might be a good idea to sit in the garden for a while. Lasted twenty minutes. Back to bed, CPAP on stand by...

    Morning all. Getting earlier to do the watering. Reminds me of the time I spent on a farm in Cumbria, where you would go out to milk the cows, then after everything was cleaned up you went in for breakfast. This was in the days when milk churns were left at the farm entrance, and a lorry would collect the full ones, leaving empties for the next milking. There is only a small dairy operation in this area, but I do see the milk tanker once in a while. The days of heaving full churns around have long since finished. Have a good day everyone. :emoticon-0157-sun:

    Morning all. I survived the 40° heat yesterday, and currently a much cooler 29°C. The voters are due to go out and express their wishes in the second round of the election today, but the enthusiasm seems to be lacking. A very poor percentage of those registered to vote turned out in the first round, and I don't see a great wish to cast their ballot this time. I will be having an easy day watching the clouds roll in from the west and waiting for the ones with rain to arrive. Have a good day everyone. <ok>
