Our new purchases so far are all lower league, whilst they may well be decent prospects I wouldn’t put too much expectations on them straight away, give them time to settle and adjust to the championship.

 

Not sure what that proves! Are you saying LJ was smart enough to realise what it took to get the funds out of SL; whereas, SC wasn’t?

That’s like saying LJ was devious, whereas SC was straight down the middle, yes I suppose that’s true.

 

all seems to be slotting into place ... hurdle 1 overcome! the next stage will have some acute timings and some money is going to change hands ... maybe a lot of money, end result could be wage is a little less and a few bob in kitty beyond SL's £15m

The next stage is more difficult, keeping players that are here already, have proven themselves at this level and possibly able to step up to a higher level. A windfall from a sell on % would prove very useful to, so hopefully Brownhill or Kelly will move on to better things.

I don't think it was down to not being smart.
He had a fundamental disagreement with SL.
He stood up for what he believed.
Nothing wrong with that.

Ok he was sacked, but I'll bet he sleeps easy with his decision.

 

It is likely to be quite a bit, although he started at WBA ... did WBA RECIEVE SOME MONEY?? so FGR would need that as a basis? .. be well over 6 figures? maybe even 7?

 

Really pleased with this signing - player of the season in League 2 and only 22

Cotts was not SL’s choice. From what I heard they never had much of a relationship.

 

Dawes was the man that wanted Cotts in and persuaded SL to give him the job.

 

I personally accept that SC and SL fell out and if reports are to be believed it was over a reduced offer for Maguire. However, I thought our HUGE bids for Gray and Gayle were simply rejected - not SLs fault or SCs.
For me, Cotts’s BIG failure was his sticking with losing tactics and deploying his subs too late in the game when the game was lost. Those are basic managerial miscalculations - bad management - and nothing to do with a row with SL. Cotts was not up to the job in the championship and he proved it.
When Pembo took over we stopped the rot immediately, which proved that we DID have the players.
