So the war wasn't high up on your agenda. That was the season we were relegated. I think we rioted or set fires away to WBA on the last day. That's one of my memories. I would have been doing my Leaving cert in Dublin 82, then I started my basic training in the RAF Feb 83.
I was at West Brom that night, lots of rioting, a lot of damage to the stadium, fights with police but don't recall any fires but it was mayhem so may have missed them if there were any.
i was there as well and it was mayhem and remember the iron railings being toppled over at pitch side... we where near the back of the end and it was carnage, remember allan clarke saying he didn't see any trouble .........blinkers sniffer
You get all the best games. I'm sure I have clippings of the match report somewhere and I think fans were trying to start small fires at the back of the stand. Long time ago and many gallons of ale drank since then, so could be wrong.
A conflict of interest that turned into war. Nearly a thousand young men would testify to that if they hadn't lost their lives.
We were about quarter way up against the fence,on the right looking at pitch, remember a chunk of concrete flying over our heads.
