The problem at the moment is that there is a temptation to let paper gossip jaundice our view on potential incoming players - Nunez for example. Who the **** really knows what is going on or whether any of the noises on social media are accurate. It's all too easy to label someone a mercenary or a misfit when nobody knows what the truth of the matter is. Nunez might be influenced by CL football, he might be influenced by the money we can offer, he might be a lifelong Newcastle fan. No ****er knows but once again we have to put up with all this speculative bollocks for a few long months.

    Yeh fair point.

The other thing is fans get so wrapped up in it they don't stop to think is Nunez worth it? Are they worth wasting a whole summer on or solely focusing on? And quite often the answer is no. Look elsewhere, there'll be other quality signings who'll be less hassle and quicker to buy.

Would prefer we are genuinely in for Christopher Nkunku to be absolutely honest.

Hopefully Nunez is a red herring.

I just read that Ten Hag travelled to Portugal this morning. Hey, I’m Manchester United news feed junkies! Don’t slate me, GF. lol

But to the point that Treble made earlier, I see no value in wrangling over one player. I like Nkunku myself!

This is why it is important to have a clear strategy with transfer. Plan A, B, and C. For years under that ’moron fker Woodward, all we had was a single threaded hyper elevated moronic plan that became a circus. I really hope that we will put a stop to that this summer.

Anyone listened to Van Gaal's latest interview?

Much as I thought he was a terrible manager for United, he's not wrong about Woodward!!

He is the main reason why the team and squad recruitment has been a complete shambles since Ferguson. “Man Utd is more a commercial club than a football club” may be harsh but not a million miles from the truth with ****ing Woodward at the helm.

He was an utter utter ****.

If anything epitomises the Glaziers it was his appointment. His sole remit to help them line their pockets. I wouldn't wish ill on anyone but I wouldn't cross the road to piss on him if he was on fire.

    He may well have.

If this is so, we are at least carrying out proper diligence in attempting to make signings.

Fergie used to meet with the players he wanted to sign, that all kind of stopped when he left and managers were apparently 'given' signings and played little involvement in it.

If Ten Hag has gone over, fair enough, this is the way to do it and shouldn't be seen that we are trying to 'pursuade' an unwilling signee.

If Nunez then goes elsewhere, so be it and we look at someone else.

Frankie De Jong has agreed personal terms with Man Utd. The clubs now just need to agree the fee. Apparently difference of about €15-€20m in it.

    Good start if so.

Barca need the money for their planned signings so should be easily sorted.

Timber would be a good second signing. Apparently also, Arthur is supposed to be quite close. I would say that would suffice for Ajax players and we then look elsewhere!

Pau Tores and Nkunku would be very nice.

Caveat on FDJ is it's all on social media but I think it's accurate.

If we make those other 4 (or at least buy players to cover those 4 places) then that would be the summer done imo.

    They want 80m.

Their vice president has just been on saying they need 500m to save the club. They're fcked.

They wasted so much money on players in the last five years. Players that added nothing to the team at immense price. What tha f were they thinking?

You look at the likes of Chelsea too needing £1.5bn free money from Roman to exist. I wonder how much real debt PSG and Man City have on their books.

Then you have The Glazers that are simply using the club to enrich themselves while never paying down their loan that they wreaked on the club.

The way these clubs operate is just plain criminal!

    Well yeh, you'd think.

Tbf though, Woodward's ruined our rep when it comes to negotiating so if you're Barca you're playing your poker face with "a pair" hoping United with their "busted Flush" will take the bluff.

The ****ing press have been building up a fake news story over Nunez. We all know that he is likely to go the RS. Yet they are putting out headlines like" Utd trying to BLOCK transfer move to ". Block? How can any club block a transfer move? Hijack or steal perhaps. But even that is not true.

When the transfer is done watch out for the headlines " player goes to RS despite monumental efforts by utd to block it". These ****ing reporters and editors should be ashamed.

I'm more interested in the business we're actually doing. Nunez story is nothing more than the distraction you've just described. We need to be making progress with our signings that's all.

    A report from the Express:

United were interested in a move for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez but there was simply no desire to become embroiled in a bidding war with Liverpool.

Furthermore, the club denied that a meeting had taken place with super-agent Jorge Mendes regarding his client as they continued to monitor the situation from afar.

There's a sense that United were never prepared to enter the running given the numbers involved and instead, they're focused on other targets.

Slowly but surely, United's vision is becoming clear with Frenkie de Jong still considered to be their top target

I was pleased to read that as I thought it would be senseless getting into pointless bidding wars. There are plenty of great players out there and we should not be wasting time playing games of attempting to win one over rivals. Frenkie de Jong is the one that I would love to see as we need to build from the back and the midfield. Also need to break the unholy union of McFred somehow. That is more of a priority for the team than fighting for an out and out striker at this moment in time.
