Not so much as you could have firmino or Jota as the extra 1 in place of a midfielder. Similar to when we’ve gone 4 up top, even though it’s 4 forwards it’s generally more a 4231

Hendo as the back up 6 is the best solution for him going forward (which still makes it ridiculous giving him a big new contract for another 5 years!).

The RCM has let us down massively this year IMO which is why we need to bring someone in to be a regular starter.

It makes sense but it's quite short term given it's more likely than not (imo) that both Salah and Firmino will be gone at the end of next season.

Bellingham I agree is unlikely unless we make him a VVD or Allison type signing, i.e. we think he's the best in the World in that role and we're going all in for him. As @jaffaklopp said, won't be this summer at any rate.

Maybe we'll see more of Morton this season? And Jones really needs to have his breakout season sooner rather than later now.

I think you have Bobby, Elliot and Carvalho who can play that 10 role nicely, with Fab and Thiago playing in a double pivot. Interestingly, Fab, Thiago, Naby and Tchouameni are all used to playing in a midfield 2 and not a 3 before joining LFC (I know Tchou hasn't joined but he was the midfield target). I think the transition to 4231 has been on the cards for a while ...

I do think we need another winger because IMO, only Mo and Diaz can play those roles effectively. I dont want to see Jota, Darwin or Mane there.

Shame just hasn’t quite worked out (despite his goal record being very good this season). Seems like just hasn’t found a role in this side but clearly a decent player in there. Anything over £15m would double money which can’t be moaned at given the output he’s had for us.

I think that would be a mistake. Losing Origi, Minamino and possibly Mané in one window, especially with the 5 subs rule.

I agree he's a very useful squad member, but I can understand if he wants to play more regularly. Might bring in more money for us to get our targets and provide more opportunities to players like Gordon.

Yeah I think klopp is probably happy to keep him but he probably wants a move. Not sure if Japan are in the WC but he’s 27, and he’s better player than 6th choice. These should be his prime few years now and will want to be first team regular which just hasn’t managed here.

    IMO:

A VVD/Allison signing is always possible. I firmly believe that if klopp believed and the wage was right (very important) that we would make it happen. (we might buy nobody for 2 years after ;)

Morton i doubt. He would need to transform himself physically over the past 3 months and the next 2/3 and hit preseason looking like a man not a stick insect. I think he's got something, the usual LFC youths tidiness and passing but physically its not there.

Jones, I feel he needs an epiphany. Theres something there but he is almost trying to hard to "impress" and hogs the ball or does amiless dribbling. There was a video of him posted by suck of porto game. The difference was night and day. pass, move, pass, run behind, etc etc. really quick slick stuff that maybe the opposition enabled but it raised his game massively. He needs a break through that he has to move the ball.

Its elliott for me. Theres a level if he's really fit of high intensity pressing and a range of passing in him that means he could be very good if he learns not to be drawn into runing baout headlessly.

great. if ward can get 20mil here then make it happen.

Ive never seen a more anonymous player bar aspas. Theres a level where this lad will be good but its not top 4 clubs and never will be. aspas did great back in spain but the game in england just doesn't suit either.

Mini-me has scored many goals by the ball falling to him or him producing a good finish but we've struggled along in games carrying him and its weight of the rest of the team cracking weaker teams that leads to him getting the reward. I just don't see this as anything but a 7mil punt that's about to become a double your money deal for LFC.

Personally speaking he seems a hard worker, a nice lad (who knows really but seems so) and never complained so thanks for the two cups takki! fair play and good luck!

Agree with all that. Not sure with Jones if it's a confidence or an attitude thing, but at some point it just needs to click.

So would we accept straight-up 30m?

jimmy theres zero evidence of this move.

Klopps never tried it once in game nor in and friendlies and the entire club from top to bottom play the same way on purpose with high pressing game and 433.

Not one of the current CMs irrespective of what they used to play has been slotted into a 2 really by klopp they all have roles in the 3. the closest i have seen with this is naby in initial games where he was slotted into an almost LW role from the 4231 but that was not as part of a 2.

I think if you said you'd like to see us switch then that could be a debate but you are saying the club is in a transition to it and i don't see that right now.

All the games where we throw 4 forwards on we never got 4231 we go 424, the few times we'd started with 4 its again much lesser opposition and we try to flood it on.

the "10" in a 4231 is really an advanced attacking central midfielder not a forward. they have to chase back. 4 years ago that was ideal for firmino, we didn't do it then.

IMO the triangles of play between wing, midfield and full back are too fundamental to our system to be radically altering to bring one forward in.

IMO what we need to get back to is balancing attack and defence against top 6 teams. when firmino was prime we would have the midfield area absolutely flooded with bodies and teams couldn't get. I'm not really seeing that now. IMO thats really where we need to see the change. elliott or carvalho for me won't bring that to klopp as a 10/false 9. They are LW or RCM types.

You are right that it should prolong his career however i simply do not see the real willingness in Henderson still. He has to come to terms with a game where he doesn't run about chasing and instead uses his energy to cover others and shut off lanes.

Look at any game where henderson covers fabinho and see if matip ever really goes running off. Watch fabinho in contrast. every single time matip runs fabinho moves back into that RCB slot and covers the space. Henderson simply doesn't see it.

IMO the choices as of now are keita (a bit one paced for me now) and Elliott (tactically naive) or nederson (will allow trent run in but doesn't work well for me wide) OR Thiago (covering trent wouldn't be his strong suit) OR Trent (if he thinks he is so good then show it) OR ox (i don't think he's up to it at all)

I do feel that LCM is just as big an issue and you could put a new no 8 in either slot.

Not if the club value him at £42.5m. If both clubs are serious then I could see him being sold for somewhere in between the two valuations. We have the upper hand.
