He may well be but remaining silent in the face of this statement makes it look like he’s unable to prevent it from happening (or unwilling) could hurt him in the long run if he’s hanging about for the full backlash. Especially if it derails preparations for the new season and we start badly on the back of it.
Could also be the fact that Methven is Bob's source, so although Bob gets info some of it will be pure **** that salmon pants wants people to believe, I don't believe for one second that these are the investors that Prehab26, wheatsheaf etc are really optimistic about our future. KLD has told the chances they can have 2/3 of the original offer, the are trying to up the price . They did it with KLD last time by stringing MG consortium along just so KLD would think he had competition and almost ruined the deal. KLD has these chancers over a barrel, they have an obligation to pay their percentage of the outgoing in reflection to share percentage. There is no way they would be able to afford these cost in the championship. They have to sell, but even now they are still trying anything they can to get as much money as possible
The more I think about it the more I'm sure its standard Donald and Methven piss. Use someone who will be happy to benefit from the attention (like wild Billy Storey) and link them to buying the club because it'll get a negative reaction from the fans and force the hand of the people actually buying into paying a little bit more or getting a wriggle on in completing their deal. Charlie Methven school of PR.
I’m not sure what the club can say on this. KLD can’t deny it unless he knows it’s nonsense. And Donald and Methven might be maintaining it isn’t.
This rubbish looks a typical chancer's ruse to me. As for this Tom White. I'm sure he's a good bloke if people say he is, and that he is a supporter as many are saying. But even if there was real substance to this, if he was a proper journalist, and with Sky's resources available, you'd think he would have done some basic checks and discovered very quickly what others have done ; that the individual in question has multiple bankruptcies behind him and no visible money. It's a low bar now to be regarded as a journalist it seems.
Not sure how this will drive price up mind. Why would the other group need to increase their offer because the other group has gone public, to massive mockery about it being unrealistic and fans in uproar. Not sure how that would translate to other parties saying, 'we need to up our already accepted bid'.
if it attracts just one more interested party they can use to play off each other they can create price competition
It's been for sale for years. I think everybody who would potentially bid will be aware of the cost etc already. Pressure on other groups to finalise maybe but doubt increases. Reporters need to stop releasing what Charlie tells them.
Don't think this is about driving a price up, although they would seem to have form for it. Think it is more a case of get a deal done, and not with the people mentioned today. However, I know nowt.
You go to buy a house. on the market for 400k. the estate agent says there's no interest. you think "well fyck that I dont think its worth that much, I'll bid 350k Or You go to buy a house. on the market for 400k. the estate agent says there's loads of interest and in fact two people have met the asking price, but aren't ready to proceed, so if you're quick you might be lucky. you think "well if I bid the asking price I have shot, but to be sure I'll bid £405k and ask them to take it off the market". Fabricating interest, especially interest which validates the asking price you're asking for, is a way of generating competition and also "evidencing" that they should pay what you want.
