Hull City will allow Mallik Wilks and Tyler Smith to leave the MKM Stadium this summer with the club looking to completely refresh their forward ranks, Hull Live understands.

City found goals hard to come by in the Championship last season with their 41 the second-worst in the league, and their lack of potency has convinced the club's hierarchy to look at alternative options in a bid to transform their fortunes next season.

Wilks is contracted to the Tigers until next summer after City activated the year option on his deal last month but are willing to listen to offers for the 23-year-old from Leeds. The striker hit the net 23 times on the way to winning the League One title but found the step up to Championship football challenging scoring just three times albeit in a campaign hit by injury.

Boss Shota Arveladze repeated his frustrations about Wilks' lack of desire to force his way into the starting XI with his final appearance of the season coming off the bench in the 3-0 win at Peterborough United in February, and though the Georgian boss suggested he felt that he could get Wilks firing, it now looks as if his future will be away from the club he joined from Barnsley in 2020.

There is interest in Wilks, with Peterborough United's former City boss Grant McCann keeping tabs on his situation though a move to London Road looks unlikely at this stage, while Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday are interested in taking the frontman. A move to Hillsborough would make sense for the ex-Leeds United man particularly given Wednesday's desire to sign a player who can play off the wing or through the middle.

Shame about them both, in different ways, but the correct decision.

I always thought Tyler Smith was an odd signing, as he didn't fit into McCann's 4-3-3 formation, his pace was useful but he didn't look look like the big strong central striker who could hold the ball up. He needed to be playing in a central role alongside a big striker who could hold the ball up and win 'flick-ons' for him. I don't think Shota was overly impressed with him either. Pity it didn't work out.

I seem to remember he came on as a sub late on in the 2nd half and was outpaced by a rather elderly centre half. I don't think that endeared him to Shota, as he only made the bench once in the final 10 games of the season.

I can't say I ever saw anything that made him look like being Championship quality. He's decent and he has potential, but he wasn't what was needed as we were scrapping for relegation. A lot of energy and pace but lacked any kind of predatory instinct. He'll bounce back into the Championship at some point.

I think he was signed for his price tag, as opposed to his ability.

41 goals last season was most disappointing especially after scoring 48 in our away games the previous season.

Further reports from Turkey from a decent source, this guy has 590K followers and has provided good info before.

    Translated from Turkish

Hull City is pushing all the conditions to add Jean Michael Seri to their squad. The official offer was made and it was put on hold.

    • Hull City wants to establish the Ozan-Traore-Seri midfield.

Not sure were we fit Honeyman into that midfield. :emoticon-0106-cryin

It would work in a 4231 wouldn’t it, seri and Ozan as the holding midfielders with traore on the left

As far as I can see he's the main man to follow for transfers.
