Thatcher had 147 vote against her and she was forced to go.

What's the highest number of MPs voting against that didn't result in the PM going?

Simple maths but that's a 63 majority meaning that only 32 had to vote differently. That's far more than I was expecting. One good thing about Thatcher? When a similar number voted against her she realised the game was up. I don't generally have good things to say about her, but here's a shocking fact. Because she resigned, Maggie Thatcher had more dignity than Johnson.

I would expect that there are at least 32 Tory MP's who aren't keen on Boris and his cronies, but didn't vote against him due to party loyalty or fear of what comes next...

...which is defeat in a couple of by-elections and some proper investigation of Party-gate, The Dirty Johnsons, Sue Gray's cover up, etc....not to mention rampant inflation and recession.

He's done...but **** alone knows what comes next?

That is not what happened with Thatcher. Initially she was determined to carry on, as there had to be a second vote. It was only that she discussed her future with cabinet colleagues and they almost all told her she would lose on the second ballot. At that point she knew the gig was up. There was no principle involved, she knew she would lose.

Just in case anyone had forgotten who the leader of the Lib Dems was.
Trying to get them on record individually as supporting Bodger.

Not how I remember it tbh.
I recall her saying she intended to fight on but had to change her mind cos her allies in cabinet made it clear that she'd lose a second ballot.
(They used to have two ballots for some reason)
