If he survives, and many political analysts think he will, then he can’t be challenged again for at least a year
I think he can if he’s proven to have broken the ministerial code, but otherwise no, you are right. I can’t see 180, or whatever the figure is, Tories voting against him tbh.
I supported Boris through Brexit and the last General Election but he has to go. I couldn't care if there's no other tory candidate worthy of the position. The prevarication likely to be on show, should he survive, will only help the opposition. The soon to be announced by-election results will just keep the pot boiling. He will go, no doubt in my mind, but will be death by a 1000 cuts.
this is a wake up call to all, politics is a very volatile place to be part of. The opposition currently is basically like a headless chicken with no real workable alternatives, so spend / spent hours and hours of parliament time stoking the Partygate affair, with the same old scripts, at the expense of the real business that needs to be done. As for Boris, well he had my 100% support in everything he has done up to now and I mean everything ... with one provisio ... his actions in getting involved with some of the parties / and believing what he was told without recourse they were within the rules ....! was a grave error of "hindsight" judgement. Should he stand down? ... NO, there is not one single person on here who has not either got a guilty secret or done something that is not right or in the spirit of things... 1 misjudgement will hopefully be settled with this vote ... [ hope it does not backfire as a number of the "54" feel it is better to get it done,] Boris wins and the real task of Parliament is allowed to progress ........... There is some pretty BIG steps to take in the next 6 month's ........ Europe, the west and parts of the world are victims of 1 mans demented vision that he is greater than Stalin and HAS NO RESPECT FOR THE HUMAN RACE ... the economy a far greater hurdle ... all need a steady guidance from all parties
It’s not just once, he’s a habitual liar, once any PM plays fast and loose with parliament they are toast, and rightly so. It should be above party politics, I’d be saying the same regardless which party was in power, it’s a question of integrity and honesty. As one Tory MP put it, “it’s clear Boris broke the ministerial code over the row about Downing Street parties during lock down.,That’s a resigning matter for me, and it should be for the PM too”.
when you peruse the gobbiest of the Boris out brigade you can see little patterns ... the main one has had and has designs on being PM, some of the others are remnants of the bitter remainers ... Scottish MP's are always a bit anti Boris .. wont let them have another vote and took them out of the EU....... so a rag taggled bunch really ... had to make the comment before the result!.........
Good, we all have our opinion, maybe they all are just fed up with a lying, cheating leader of their party.
Tbf, everyone knows Boris is going to win, just the margin is in question, so if you’re a Tory MP with a view to securing your own future the best thing to do is back Boris, publicly at least. To stick your head up and speak against him has the opposite affect to what you are suggesting.
Let’s get this straight, the Tories have a 80 seat majority, but 148 are against Boris, that’s an interesting dynamic.
Strangely 148 Tories having the balls to vote against Boris has, to a point, improved my view of the Tories, maybe they do have integrity after all.
