They're years ahead. You think they bought the club and waited until last week to start their project? Our owners just got through the door.
One - that was done by a journo at the collapse of the initial deal. its in writing and not verbal. Granted Caulking is seen by a God by some on here. Two - The same woman, more recently came out and said title and Champs League within 5 to 10 years. (Verbally) Three - The same woman even more recently said after the extensive review massive amounts of investment were now required everywhere from Foundation to academy, from womens team to mens team, from traing ground to stadium and all the additional staff that would be required. Again verbally and on camera. I do believe our owner I just believe her more recent verbal interviews that I have seen first hand than a 2nd hand piece written years before they had a chance to analyse everything.
They finished below us, with a ****ter stadium and a training ground that will be ****ter than ours come the new season.
Questions So she didn't say it? Can you provide anything to demonstrate your claim? I don't know what's wrong with 250 over 3 years anyway Nufc fans are so greedy they're trying to perform mental gymnastics to explain Staveleys figures as untrue.
The position in the table is irrelevant.. The point is they're years into a business plan and nufcs owners didn't even know what league their business was operating until 8 weeks ago. To suggest villa didn't start for years is ridiculous
I think FFP is the issue that will restrict them in the end which is why the investment in all the areas you say will happen. But a lot of the FFP issue is getting the house in order and the commercial deals lined up. We don’t publicly have a shirt sponsor to replace fun88 yet so the PL must be all over us. We need the infrastructure right and tight. Commercial deals on and a strong staffing model to then facilitate the top signings. So I agree with @Rumsfield that I believe this window will be a pragmatic one. I reckon a mixture of one top signings with some good ones. Almost identical to the Jan one I would guess.
We have to get rid of the apathy and fear that some supporters will have Years of ****e that we have put up with, without any hope or even excitement This is back now Forget turn of the year, look at when Eddie arrived If you took the results of all teams after he was appointed we would have finished 6th! Is it too hard to now look upwards? **** villa, wolves, Brighton, Leicester, they have had their chance, aim above them as a minimum Start looking for teams at the bottom to start beating teams in the top half, not the other way round as it has been for years We will make mistakes of course we will, but I’m looking forward to more good days than bad from now on Make the ground like the Arsenal game every game!!!! HWTL
The thing is it's them that's being negative not me. I'm saying 250 million is great and they don't like that number. Otherwise they'd just say great news instead of going to great lengths to explain Staveleys own words as false.
Well aren't you a feckin ray of hope. If you remove the first 6 games of the season last season we'd be in the top 6 and from the secomd half of the season we'd be in the top 3. I doubt mid table mediocrity is on the cards... Unless you've been hanging out with Tash, in which case we can only finish mid table and Bruce did a great job. None of DCL, Toney or W-P will be too expensive... who decides what "too expensive" is anyway?
In Steve Bruce's last season nufc were the 6th best for the second half of the season. Just saying. I personally don't expect to continue the form throughout next season.... 17th will do for me. The clubs trying so that is all I care about.
I agree with you. I don’t see how what you said is negative at all. £250m over 3 windows or seasons is extremely positive in my own perspective. £250m is a lot of investment for infrastructure and will get our facilities to where they should be. The top players will come afterwards when we can afford them from a FFP model. The PL are all over our accounts and spends. The only reason they could do the Jan window was because of Mike. Fans have to remember that only 6 months ago we where not an attractive proposition for players staff and commercial partners.
Yes indeed sir It's also worth pointing out that I'm only basing the number on the only possibly accurate bit of evidence available. Jesus all they wanted was a club that tries and now they want more than 250 million over 3 seasons.
Methinks your expectations might be exceeded then. We're on the up and the team is only going to get better.
I agree mate I think they'll do better, but my gripe was actually truthfully that mike Ashley didnt try. When I said I just want hope and to feel like the club was trying I meant it.. It's already becoming abundantly clear a large number of our fans were being dishonest.
There's so much to do at the club at present I think transfers are a way down the list until the window actually opens - Seasons Tickets, Sponsors, Training Centre, Safe Standing potential... back ground stuff that's been neglected for the last decade. Ashworth was the start of it all and will be the key but needs a few weeks to get his feet under the desk and prioritize what gets done and when. Transfers don't need to be big transfers or world class to improve the squad. Also will depend on who is leaving. Keep saying it but there are 10+ players to get rid of to open up spaces and free up wages. Also if they are smart they can massively improve the squad with the right players: I think Ekitike would be a great way to start the window - covers CF and the RW issue in one swoop. If we can get someone like Ake that covers CB and LB issue you save the costs of 2 transfers, wages and agent fees etc. - not that I'd spend £50m on him but if he covers 2 positions why not?
I like your thoughts on the players that can cover multiple positions and that’s actually a very good point indeed. Take Ekitike for example he can play in all 3 positions up top I believe. That’s a massive plus if true. Means we can mix it up with all our other attacking options. Dan Burn was a left back at Brighton believe it or not. Well that’s where he played a lot. Ake for 25m say would be a good deal.
I don't really care about Villa or who they sign, but it's clear many nufc fans are getting frustrated and jealous. I wouldn't worry because eventually nufc will be the next galacticos.
Ashley just wanted us to stay up and nothing more every season just so he could get the TV money, anyone could see he wasn't happy when we got into Europe and he never wanted us to win any cups. We can clearly see a huge difference in thr calibre of signings already; we ain't signing Joselu, Jamaal Lewis, Kuqi, Hanley or Riviere anymore. I know we're only at the beginning of our journey, but much better signings and a better manager is reason to expect improvement.
