People and parties put themselves in front of the people and the people cast their vote. No one HAS to be elected. Is this what Unionists tell themselves when hundreds of thousands of people vote Sinn Fein? If that was the case there would be no need for elections. Btw, a quarter of a million adults voted for Marty. That's a lot of people in an election when only about half the voters bothered turning up.

Medro why do you ignore the rest of my post and pick up on a single sentence? Irish People have continued to vote McGuinness into the post of First Minister and to the Mid Ulster MP seat. A quarter of a million Irish people in the south just voted for him in an election. When Irish citizens in the north and abroad are able to vote for the Irish president, probably next time, the results will be very different. There were many positives to come from the IRA campaign. One being that no laws can be passed in Stormont without what is effectivly the IRA leadership rubber stamping it. A far cry from the pre 1972 Stormont I think you will agree.
