I only watched them a handful of times but Norwich had a centre mid on loan who impressed me a lot every time I did watch them. Norman I think his name was. Aarons is the other obvious name from them but he’s a right back which we don’t particularly need. Tzolis was supposedly one of the brightest talents in Europe when he signed for them a couple of seasons ago, no idea how he’s done for them though. Watford have the front three of Sarr, Dennis and Joao Pedro. Sarr allegedly is a bit enigmatic where he can be great but flashes hit and cold. Joao Pedro is young and looks to have a big future but definitely not the finished article yet. Dennis had a good season so will probably have suitors Obvious ones from Burnley are Pope, McNeill and Cornet. Tarkowski as well but he is out of contract so most likely will be out of our wage range. McNeill seems to have stalled a bit last couple of season, whether that’s due to the playing style at Burnley not allowing players like him much time to shine is the question. Pope would be good and I would think Cornet had some release clause in his contract if they got relegated. Burnley are in trouble financially but they also haven’t spent much in their time in the PL and I doubt any of their players are on big money. They might think it a better idea to keep the team together for a season and try and make an immediate return than sell off their best players unless it’s for big money. In short I’d take Norman. Sarr, Pope, Cornet and McNeill from the relegated teams. Norman probably the only realistic one as I think the others would all be too expensive for a team like us who supposedly wants to address every position so need to spread the budget around
Would take Cork back. More consistent then Diallo. Not what we need but would be useful backup on the bench.
Cornet has a £17.5m release clause. I imagine someone will come in for him at that price, though I doubt that will be us. Pope seems the most obvious one for us to go for but doesn't seem like we are for whatever reason. Tarkowski will probably go somewhere like Leicester, Newcastle, Everton or Villa. Picking up relegated teams better players hasn't been a tactic we've gone for in the past and it doesn't look like thats going to change now.
Bergwijn wants to leave Spurs and says champions league isn’t a priority he just wants to play. Wonder what his wages are
Would love us to take a punt on a player like Cornet; he’s the kind of player I think we all hoped Djenepo would turn into…. But then sadly, sank without a trace. Relatively low wages, limited Prem experience, eye for goal and a brave and battling player… whilst I know there would be some other clubs in for him, would love to see him and an extra dimension and end product for us….
I wonder if Gareth Bale would consider one season at Southampton. It looks like he needs to gets to match sharpness for the world Cup.
hard work beats talent if talent doesn’t work hard. can’t see a precedent for this working even if he does join us.
No thanks. Would prefer someone with 100% commitment and who isn't injury prone as ****. Definitely not worth making our top earner, even on a short term deal imo.
If, sorry, when, we actually sign someone there will be no need for an e-mail alert, as the clouds will part and a shaft of golden light will appear over St Marys, combined with a choir of angels and ten thousand voices singing. Or something like that.
You seem to be misunderstanding the Saints experience Pleasure must be rare and fleeting Hope must be constant and disappointment frequent Transfer Rumour Threads will unite the Happy Clappers and Bed Wetters in an orgy of desperate hopes and shattered dreams We March On
I heard that all replica Saints kits will include hair shirts from now on, so that .supporters can really suffer, every time they wear the colours
Bale would effectively be like repeating the Walcott deal imo. Hasn’t been that interested in club football for a while now and if you can’t be interested at Real Madrid you aren’t going to be interested at Southampton
