Lots of journos talking about Everton chasing Castellanos, chasing Harrison….. how the fk can they afford even a big mac being £350m in debt…
All this talk about cash plus a player for our best assets is driving me up the wall these clubs need to come up with 100% cash and we will decide how to spend it
Actually you could argue Burnley / Newcastle did his job for him, it wasn’t in our hands on the last day.
Agreed, so did points across the whole season as well, but ultimately it wasn’t in our hands on the last day.
Afternoon all. Let's see if I've got it right. Get a better keeper than Meslier Get rid of Ayling and Cooper because they're too old. Get rid of Llorente because he's not good enough, neither is Firpo. Let Philips go because he's a shadow of the player he was. Klich is too old as well. Forshaw is too injury prone and Roberts isn't good enough. Get rid of Rodrigo, James and Harrison because they're either not good enough or were a waste of money. If a decent bid comes in for Raphinha he can go too. It should be fun watching Leeds next season if some of you get your wishes. I suppose Orta is going to wave his magic wand and sign a whole team of great players. It's hilarious reading.
People have differing opinions on what needs changing, that’s the point of a forum, clearly we won’t change all but we need some because we don’t want a repeat of last season. For what it’s worth, I think Raphinha will definitely go, so we need to think of a replacement unless we think someone can step up or Harrison and James are good enough. Personally, I’ve said I’d like Pope for Meslier but probably not at the 40 million being reported as the Burnley asking price. Also said a loan for Cresswell and Heldje to develop them (Burnley will lose both CB). Everyone on here seems to think Firpo is ****, I just don’t know, sometimes I think he may come good once he’s used to the league but he does look very slow.
If you joined everyone's quotes together then yes, that is what you get. Have you no opinion on where the squad needs improving? If not, then under your method, I suppose you'd be happy to go with the same as last season and hope for the best.
might be hilarious reading but sadly most of it is true. If that will be the bulk of our squad again next season we will defo be fighting a relegation battle. Nobody stood out this season because we were quite simply shyte. we were very lucky in staying up. our so called better players struggled to carry the dross around them. Yes of course everyone won't go. but, when the talk is taking our best two players in Rapha and Phillips out of that bad bunch things look even gloomier. I'm probably being a bit unfair saying bad bunch as they aren't bad footballers just quite a few aren't Premier League Footballers and that's where we are applying our trade.
Not at all in my opinion. James was a constant threat and as usual worked his socks off for the team. Same as for us he was asked to work across the whole of the front line which takes an incredible amount of energy, especially when you have a static presence such as Kieffer Moore in the same side. Delighted for him that Wales have qualified for the WC.
The reason I said that it made hilarious reading is because it doesn’t seem to add up. On the one hand there’s complaints about the players we sign then they want to get rid of most of the starting 11 and replace them. If we got a 50% success rate on signings we’d be better than most PL teams. Even for Championship players the PL is a huge step up so who knows how many will make it? Then there’s the constant theme of getting rid of players because they’re too old at 31. Apparently we’ll be lucky to give them away. Even though players have and are representing their country we need to get rid of them. There’s 5 subs next year. Would you prefer to fill it up with U23s so that team suffers again? I would have no problem with Ayling, Dallas, Klich and Forshaw being available from the bench next year. We haven’t seen the best of Firpo. He was definitely getting better near the end of the season. How good will James be on the wing, especially with Bamford up top? That hasn’t happened yet. Would Rodrigo be better with Bamford back? What about Harrison? I could go on but my point is that I don’t want to get rid of anyone. We need to add to what we’ve got and just hope that we don’t suffer the same injury nightmare next season. This season would have been a lot different with the spine of our team available so I’m just glad we stayed up.
