I don't think even one major pundit had us finishing in the top three in the league this year. Not only pushed within a point but was running for a quad until last day of the season. We definitely exceeded all the expectations. Everyone was saying we would be crap because we didn't make big signings like everyone else. Well... Season speaks for itself. Won two of the tournaments on offer and runners up in the other two. Not bad for a team everyone was writing off as an also-ran before the season started.
Liverpool won the Milk and FA Cup, but I've only just realised from the following picture that I came across, as my memory is clearly failing me badly, that Liverpool didn't actually win a single final in normal or extra time or shall we say they won nowt in normal play, oh dear.... please log in to view this image

. Name one? Before the season began it was all City, United, Chelsea, and Liverpool might round out the top four. No one had us winning. It was all "look how much all these other teams have spent, and Liverpool haven't signed anyone" comments.
That's shows how much they know init.....seems Liverpool over achieved......for me it was only ever a race between man city and Liverpool they are so far infront of the rest
That pretty much sums it up. Almost all of them thought we would finish 4th with a few saying 3rd and Lawton being the rosy glasses optimist he is said 2nd. We finished third the previous season and everyone around us splashed major cash except for us, which lead to everyone writing us off as no-hopers. We did way better than anyone thought we would at the start of the season... Yeah, by mid season it was obvious it had to be us or City, with Chelsea still in the fight as a dark horse... But before the season started no one really thought we had a chance... I know I didn't. I think I predicted third with maybe a cup semifinal. I'm also going to go on record saying I don't expect to be top two next season. Next season will be a bit of a transition year for us. We're either going to have new players who haven't gelled completely yet, or players who are now past their peak. I expect next year to be a rocky year and us not to compete again until 23/24 season.
We qualified for Europe for the 2nd time in succession, beat Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City & Man Utd, and got to a European Semi-final. And we're ****, so it must be us.
Its funny cos you said they're **** and they beat you. Its another one of those basic social things you don't get
If we get Nunez, I'm revising my prediction upwards to 2nd/3rd. City will win of course. We could win the everyone else except City, trophy.
