Post-Brexit, recruitment from South America was meant to get slightly easier, versus a slight increase in difficulty in recruitment from Europe. With this in mind, I thought I'd look at how easy it is for a player at Coritiba to get a work permit to join NCFC. Target is 15 points: Playing at a Band 3 club gets 8 points 80-90% of domestic minutes gets 7 points Bonuses available based on league finish, international appearances, progress in continental tournaments, etc - but largely that's irrelevant. By my quick look, anyone playing regularly for Coritiba should be eligible for a work permit.
Ditto. It's clearly possible to take a great deal of satisfaction from being "the Man City of the Championship". But what proportion of the club fan base would really be prepared to settle for that?
Just looking at the Coritiba squad, I'm curious about their defensive midfielder, Andrey. 24 years old with 18 months on his contract, valued by Transfermarkt at £2m, and by Brazilian media at £35m. So no idea of his true value! He's scored 3 in 6 games so far in Serie A, but appears to have had an injury in training recently with an unknown timeline to return. Really hard to say how good he actually is with the limited information I can find. From the rest of their squad, they've got a highly rated 20 year old RB, but most of their other first team talents are at the club on loan. Suspect this is more of a longer term partnership than with anything from the current first team in mind.
Looking at reaction to this announcement on twitter reminded me that we've previously had similar relationships with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, Parma, and Ferencvaros. I don't remember anything visible to the fans coming from any of those!
They may be prepared to settle for being the Man City of the Championship when the alternative is being the Crystal Palace of the Championship.
I wanted to keep Farke but understood the change. Smith needs at least one window to bring in his own players so we can see what tactics he intends to use.
It's perhaps unfair to discriminate against Smith on these grounds because he seems like a decent bloke. What I liked about Farke though was his obvious integrity and decency. That means a lot in a country where those qualities are notable by their absence at the very highest level.
Pleased to see that Farke looks set to be appointed HC at Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga: https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/ncfc-canaries-farke-set-to-join-gladbach-9014564
Weird that people that choose to leave Britain for France of all places **** on my country at every opportunity. The Germans are World famous for their integrity and decency if you erase the last 100 years of history . Incredible
I had understood the stuff about a country where integrity and decency were notable by their absence was referring to England, not Germany. Have I misunderstood this?
Self loathing in England is the current thing I guess. I personally think Great Britain is a World leader in Deceny & Integrity in comparison to Germany or France or most countries in 2022. Johnson is an idiot & didn't think Covid-19 was dangerous. That's where his remaining Integrity & Deceny were flushed away like his lies. I'm guessing that's what Farked19 was referring to . Not sure what that has to do with Farke & Smith in England though ?
