Potentially another to add to the list

He definitely had a trial at Derby back in January, while Football BSider claimed he was told to look for a new club back in April, so I guess the proof will be in the pudding come new kit day

It's a damn shame he didn't make the grade, as he has one of the most awesome names ever

Lilywhite Rose claims we offered Lo-Tutala a new contract, so presumably he had a move somewhere else already lined up

In the spirit of old flames from past transfer windows, apparently Roma are looking to offload Zainolo.

On a more general note it’s going to be fascinating to see how the 5 subs change coming back affects both the season and the windows. Clubs are going to be able to offer a lot more game time for players and also be a lot more tactically flexible. Obviously still only 3 substitution windows but you could conceivably take off say Dier for another forward on 50ish mins when chasing a game then revert back to 3atb 20/25 mins later if you change the scoreline enough. Going to be interesting to see how this affects recruitment and tactics.

I’m fine with the club being ruthless and releasing youngsters they deem not good enough if it means the ones they keep have a clearer path to first team football or being worth enough to sell for a tidy sum.

Annoying though when Spurs fans then say the club made a mistake because one of the youngsters goes on to play 2-3 good games in some random European league and act like Spurs released Messi as a kid

It’s only annoying to you because you’re massively over exaggerating the gripes people (rightly) have with letting good prospects go for peanuts or nothing at all.

Spurs have not had a Sancho situation yet (thankfully) ,
but the academy similarly has not produced 1-2 prospects
per season to the senior squad, for at least 7 years.

Five subs is the main reason the two-year loan for Lenglet seems a good idea, as while he likely won't be a transformative signing like Bastoni or Torres, he's capable of playing as both the LCB and CCB in Conte's system giving us much more flexibility off the bench as (using last season's first choice back three) if Dier or Davies are on a booking in a tight game we can bring on Lenglet to play either of their roles without needing to tweak anything, while if we're under aerial bombardment or the opponents are after a scrap we have Sanchez in reserve to adjust for that

Yeah it seems pretty obvious that Bastoni or similar are the big LCB options and Lenglet is more of a cost-effective rotational option for CCB or LCB

Who has left that the club has really dropped the ball on?

I will criticise the club on a lot of things but releasing or selling youngsters I don’t think they’ve made any big mistakes.

Having a half decent season in Holland or Portugal etc doesn’t prove the club wrong even though some people are desperate for that to happen just to be proved right.

You know who the players are.

We know you criticise the club on loads of things.

Having “half decent” seasons in solid leagues at young ages does show that these players could’ve had futures here or at the very least been sold for far better amounts than we got had we persisted with them for longer and provided better routes to the first team. Losing good young players for pittances or nothing at all is not a good thing for this football club, why you think otherwise is very odd.

    Bastoni Watch
Rough translation: the Inter brass are urging Bastoni to accept our offer

The consensus seems to be that the Inter higher-ups know this sale won’t go down well with the fans, he’s a young player, an Inter fan I think, and ideally they want Bastoni to push a little bit to leave. Ultimately they do need some cash though and a fair few of their more attractive players are definitely staying put, so eventually they may not be able to save face.
